Pioneer VSX-D514 codes available?
[ Edited ]My guess is they are, but I don't have the remote & seem to be going around in circles between the Logitech app & web site. My customer lost the original remote & there are setup functions on the AV receiver which can only be controlled with the remote. I'd like to program access to the Pioneer SETUP MENU, but there doesn't seem to be a direct way to find out if those codes are databased.
I've been a TV engineer for 25 yrs., but this is my 1st opportunity to work with a Harmony remote. Majority of my work is in broadcast, post, & commercial systems-yep, I'm a newbie to this site & forum.
If anyone can either verify those codes exist and/or can point me to a way to access the database without having the remote connected, PLEASE POST INFO.
Customer has Harmony 659 remote.
Thanks.

Re: Pioneer VSX-D514 codes available?
How old is the AVR?
Unless someone with the same model posts here there is now way to know that they will work.

Re: Pioneer VSX-D514 codes available?
Customer says it's less than 5 yrs. old. It's part of a really bad install done by "some guy" (unlicensed contractor & the work looks like it).
The manual covers both VSX-D514 & D414 models. I was able to download that since he didn't have any manuals for his stuff either, nor any cable labels, need I go on? Just a poor install from the word go!
I think the cheapest (labor-wise) way to get this done is to order the replacement remote & be done with it. That way there's no question of where the codes come from.
Thanks for your reply.
How thrilling to talk to a "guru!"
Cheers.

If you were to purchase the Harmony from a retail store were it could be returned you could test it(and will most likely find that it will work) and if it does not it could be returned.

Re: Pioneer VSX-D514 codes available?
He's already got the remote, I'm just trying to clean up the system and consolidate his remotes after an HD upgrade to his satellite system. Customer doesn't know where the "guy" got the remote. It was probably bought thru distribution, but he doesn't have access to that info. It's a frustrating position to be in: walking in to a bag of sh*t to do what should have been simple, but due to crappy installation practices, winds up being WAY harder than necessary.
Thanks again. I think the safest, fastest (for me), & least expensive (for customer) is to obtain the replacement remote & go from there.
It makes a great case for good system documentation and customer training. Two things which I think set my company apart from MANY others. It's also why I try to stick to broadcast (studios, master controls), post production, and other commercial and government installations. They understand the importance of drawings, databases, and cable labels (oh yeah, and proper installation practices). That is the hard part of the sale to residential end users & their Sam's club mentalities.
This joker ran speakers over CAT-5 with splice blocks IN THE WALLS! Un-fargin-believable! It's like he literaly went to his scrap box and used, in some cases, 3 lengths of twisted up CAT-5 to make the run to a pair of speakers. Stooopid!
Thanks again.

If you already have the Harmony is the AVR not programmed into it?

Re: Pioneer VSX-D514 codes available?
No. Again, whoever did this installation left the customer with 3 or 4 remotes, none of which were completely programmed into the Harmony remote. Even the Master BR DirecTV remote had no TV functions or AVR volume programmed. Like I said-a crappy job all around. Satellite wires were poked thru a hole in the roof & when I opened the wall to add extra wires for the HD antenna, found all kinds of wet wood in the wall-the roof penetration was never sealed! Amazing!
There were no codes/functions for the Pioneer AVR programmed into the Harmony remote whatsoever. I was able to add some basic DVD jukebox menu functions which had not been programmed (stuff like captions for his foreign wife, etc), but those were not available on line had to be learned from the remote-he had that one.
I've got to find out if the Pioneer SETUP MENU commands are in Logitech's database. I'll try giving Logitech a call or ping their tech support. If that doesn't get any results within about an hour, I'll just get him a new remote & program the whole system correctly.

Re: Pioneer VSX-D514 codes available?
Have you logged into the Harmony Software?
If not download and install it. On the first screen you will have the option of forgot password. it will then ask you to answer
Make of the TV
The Zip Code
Or last name
answer to of those correct(that sounds like a game show) and you will be able to enter the account for the remote.
You can then add the AVR, update the remote and test all the commands from the devices area.
If any issues arise let us know

Re: Pioneer VSX-D514 codes available?
[ Edited ]I have the VSX-D814, which I'm sure is similar to the 514. I've found that the One can't map the Receiver button at all, but the left and right arrow will allow you to scroll through the options, though I haven't found a way to actually change them from the remote. You can however change the setup options by manually adding each step to an activity. For instance, when I play Xbox 360, I need to which to Optical 2, which on the OEM remote means hitting the Receiver button, then over 2, then up 2 What I ended up doing was adding direction up twice, then direction left twice, then setting it back to TV input.
