Harmony Remotes - Programming

I added the RF extender to my set up and it will not work.  I have tried everything, reinstalled firmware on remote and extender.  With or without the emitters still does not work.  The remote shows the extender in it's menu and indicates that it is connected.  Seems that the extender is not sending the singal out to the components.  Any ideas??? Thanks!

Hey,

Did you see the "Status" or the "RF" lights flashing on the RF extender when you are using the remote? Those are the indications that the remote is indeed communicating with the extender.

 If they are not flashing try use the remote right beside the extender to see if it makes a difference.

Btw, what's the model of your Harmony remote?

Thanks!   THe remote is an 890.  I do not think the RF light was flashing on the extender.  I'll set it up again and test.  Stay tuned.  Thanks again!

No lights flashing just power light on.

A further test is to look at the extender and emitters on the screen of a digital camera - IR shows up there as visible light.

If the RF light is not flashing, then the extender or emitter won't even send out IR signals.

First try using the remote right beside the extender to see if the RF light will flash.

If not, you might have to do the firmware on both the remote and the extender and update them again.

just to be 100% sure....is it a harmony 890, or 890Pro?

It's an 890 pro.  Did not work when held close to the extender either.  I have reinstalled firmware and updated  both the extender & the remote still does not work.  Thanks!

the 890Pro has to be paired manually...the 890 pairs just when updating the remote/extender....

Since the 890 Pro uses the same software, but different user interface it's best to just follow the steps in the 890 Pro pairing FAQ.

Troubleshooting: I am having problems pairing my Harmony 890 Pro and RF Wireless Extender.
