Remapped button not working during Activities (Harmony 880)

The "0" button on my Harmony 880 has 99% failed so I thought I might remap the "+/clear" button immediately to the left to act as my new "0."  Unfortunately, this doesn't work when using the remote for an activity, such as "Watch HDTV" (with my Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR, LG LCD TV, and Yamaha tuner).  No matter what I program that button to do, with any device in use during this activity, it still defaults to the Yamaha tuner, toggling the surround sound settings.

The only way to get the newly mapped button to work as intended ("0") is to select the activity then [Device] > [HD DVR] as the specific device in use after selecting this activity, which negates the ability to use the tuner for sound/volume control...amongst other activity-specific settings I have programmed.

Does anyone know how I can get the "+/clear" button to function as "0" at all times?  I've already tried remapping that button combo for every device I have, but it still defaults to the tuner surround sound setting toggle when I watch HDTV...which is really the only time I ever actually need to use the "0" button.

BTW, the remote is >2 years old, so warranty repair is not an option.

TIA

Make sure you are customizing this in the Activity not the device.
