Harmony Remotes - Programming

Does anyone know how to cancel the DVD/VCR from coming on when I turn the TV on. It seems to default to the VCR turning on when I try to program the remote and I cannot cancel the VCR out of it. Every thing else works fine. Cable box, Bose and TV. I don't want the VCR on, but can't seem to cancel it out of the program. Any help would be appreciated. I have a Harmony 520

Hi and welcome.

You don't mention Activities at all.

When you set up each one you are asked to specify which Devices are to be included in it.

If the VCR is in an Activity it will be turned on when the Activity starts.

If it isn't in the Activity but still turns on, that's more of a problem!

Let us have some more details about your Devices and Activities.

I didn't add the VCR. I think it was in as a default setting. I cannot seem to figure out how to delete it.

I guess I didn't make myself clear. When I'm in the Watch TV Activity, the VCR will turn on also. I have my cable box, Bose system and TV turn on at the same time. The VCR is also programed to turn on. (I didn't program that one to turn on. I think it was a default setting.) I want to delete it out of the Watch TV Activity and keep the rest of the devices. I can't figure out how to do it.  Thx for the help.

That makes it clear, thanks.

Your best option now is to set up a new Activity, using the manual option, and selecting only the correct devices for displaying video, changing channels, and controlling volume.

If that works correctly you can the delete the present Activity.

Thank You much. I deleted the old Watch Activity and re-programed a new one manually and now everything works the way I want. I guess the best way to program this thing is to do it manually, that way you get what you want and now what it tells you what it wants. I wish the manual was better.
