Re: Samsung TV going to Analog CH instead of DTV CH

^ in addition to above, the following explains the specific commands which are being used and the result;

- the default Watch TV command (for Samsung LCD's with both analogue and digital tuners)

  - turns the tv on,

  - then sends the InputAntenna command (this goes to the analogue tuner only) - this command is listed as TV in the logitech application.

- Samsung tv's that have a TV\DTV button (which toggles between the analogue and digital tuner) can also use the InputNext command (this is the same as learning the TV\DTV button from the Samsung remote)

   - setup a custom activity (as defined in my previous post) titled Watch TV

   - set tv to turn on

   - assign InputNext command

I have written to Logitech (and had good support from their email servicedesk) in the hope that this issue can be resolved for all Samsung LCD's with both inbuilt analogue and digital tuners.

Re: Samsung TV going to Analog CH instead of DTV CH

Hey macca123,

I believe my Samsung LCD is a little different than yours.

I have one single COAX jack that does AIR (Analog/DTV) & CABLE (Analog/DTV)

For me, I don't have a TV/DTV button on my remote, I only have an Antenna button which toggles AIR & CABLE.

Hitting the Antenna button on the orig remote or my Harmony doesn't fix it.  Harmony's software goes to an analog station that I told my TV that I don't have, or want.  And the only way to get to the OTA analog channels is to either type them in or something else.

My solution so far (nothing from Logitech yet) is to just CH UP and it brings me back to my Digital CH's.

Below is my remote.  Its a very common remote but has changed in the newer models.

Re: Samsung TV going to Analog CH instead of DTV CH

Hi Memphis,

My Samsung (in Australia) has both an inbuilt analogue and digital (DVB-T) tuner. They did this at a time when digital tv was starting to become popular, but many people could sometimes only still get analogue reception.

The remote you have pictured is pretty much exactly the same except for a couple of buttons - your 'Antenna' button is where my 'TV\DTV' button is.

If you need to press the Antenna button on the Samsung remote each time to cycle from analogue to digital over the air - then this should be the same as Logitech's 'InputNext' command provided in the database. If you press the Antenna button more than once and it only stays with analogue, then the button will be the same as Logitech's InputAntenna command. You will need to setup a custom (utility) activity; turning on the tv, then assigned one of the commands above to test (rename it as Watch TV for the description). Note that when you assign the InputNext command - you may need to press this Watch TV activity a couple of times as it switches b\w the analogue and digital tuners. Also note - if neither of the above works, you may need to get your Logitech TV Device to 'Learn IR' (ie, learn the IR button you press on the Samsung remote that you require).

Regarding your cable channels, in Australia we always use a separate device (ie, cable box) with it's own remote and commands. To use this, we switch across to another AV channel (eg, AV1, Component, DVI, or HDMI depending on how it is connected). Theforefore cable is handled on the Logitech remote as a completely different activity.

Hope this helps.

Re: Samsung TV going to Analog CH instead of DTV CH

^ finally settled on the default standard Watch TV activity with the addition of the InputNext command - working well so far (removed the Tv On activity).

remember to setup the tv device with the full model number on the back of the tv, and not just the basic model number on the front of the manual.

Re: Samsung TV going to Analog CH instead of DTV CH

Hi,

I have a Samsung PS42 Plasma, with the same TV/DTV button, and the remote wont effectively change the input to digital TV.  If its switching from DVD input, then its correct, but if the TV was already on digital tuner before it was switched off, then it toggles to analogue TV.  Nothing new here, this seems like a well documented issue.

Has anyone found a command to always switch to DTV? This toggle issue is plain annoying.

Or another option would be to deactivate the analogue tuner? I really dont want/need it, and it would make life easier without this a an input to switch..

Has anyone dealt with Samsung or Logitech on this issue? I dont want to go over covered ground, but it cant get resolution to this issue.

Last night i tried to learn the DTV/TV button, then switch the TV on, then the amp, then toggle DTV/TV, but this does a similar thing to the way it used to work.  Now the 'help' button doesnt even fix it!

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul and welcome - there are several ideas for this familiar problem.

I have the toggle on a spare button and use it when the wrong one is selected first time.

As yours starts on what it was on last, and the last is always going to be DTV, you could include a further toggle as Additional When Activity Starts, so that it goes first to ATV then immediately back to DTV.

If you can disable the analogue that would be a better solution.

Re: Samsung TV going to Analog CH instead of DTV CH

Thanks HH,

Unfortunately my Harmony 525 doesnt have any spare buttons...

And i tried adding a custom activity to toggle the TDV/TV command after power on, but the TV reacts differently if it was used for a DVD or TV when turned off.

If it was a DVD, then using the DTV command after power on will be successful, but if we've been watching DTV, then it will toggle to analogue.  So i would like a activity that will always have it go correctly to DTV, without having the hit 'help' to run through the commands again, if we have watched DTV before turning off (which is most of the time).

I cant seem to disable the analogue tuner either :smileysad:

Any other ideas?

Thanks, Paul

ummm...your space on the LCD screen is virtually unlimited...just place the command on the LCD of the activity

Samsung LCD HDTV (LN52B750), Scientific Atlanta HD DVR Cable Box (Explorer 8300HD), Panasonic BluRay Player (DMP-BD55), Onkyo Receiver (TX-SR806), XBox 360, Nintendo Wii, SlingCatcher....all with my Harmony 1100 w/ Wireless Extender
Samsung LCD HDTV (LN40B640), Scientific Atlanta HD DVR Cable Box (Explorer 8300HD), Panasonic Blu-Ray Player (DMP-BD60), SlingCatcher, Monoprice HDMI Switch (HDX-501)....all with my Harmony 900 w/ 2 Blasters

OK Paul - I was assuming that it was DTV all of the time, in which case the Additional Command would be the solution.

However, if you really can't spare one hard button, then as WA says you have an unlimited number on the screen.
