I have a Sony Bravia LCD tv and a sony AV receiver. I would like to force the TV to switch to external speakers every time it is turned on with an activity. This usually works just by controlling the order in which the devives are turned on; av receiver first. Sometimes when switching acttivities it mutes the av receiver and palys through the tv speakers.

Is there a way to force the tv to go to external speakerss?

This may be due to Sony's automatic switching system - I forget what it's called.

If so you could disable it.

I would think you need to set up an ACTIVITY that uses the AV RECEIVER to control the VOLUME.  This question is asked on the way thru creating an Activity.  If you tell it the AV Reveiver, then that should work.  All you now need to do is to ADD an extra command on STARTUP of the activity to MUTE the BRAVIA TV (include a second or so PAUSE between turning the TV ON and MUTING it).  Might also be a good idea to RE MUTE the BRAVIA on EXIT from the activity, so as to turn the TV sound back on.

This is what I do with my Bravia.  I have two activities, one for this and one for normal TV sound.

There may be a problem with adding the mute command as most TVs will display MUTE on the TV when activated

It should work as he has the same TV as me, and it works for me.
