Trying to set up a new TV and cable box/PVR on my Harmony 520...

And it keeps telling me I have no devices that can change channels, Duh, yes I do.  The TV and Cable Box/PVR can obviously change channels.  What do I do?

Re: Trying to set up a new TV and cable box/PVR on my Harmony 520...

add activity...select MANUAL at the first choice, then watch tv, watch non-tivo pvr and you'll be good to go

Samsung LCD HDTV (LN52B750), Scientific Atlanta HD DVR Cable Box (Explorer 8300HD), Panasonic BluRay Player (DMP-BD55), Onkyo Receiver (TX-SR806), XBox 360, Nintendo Wii, SlingCatcher....all with my Harmony 1100 w/ Wireless Extender
Samsung LCD HDTV (LN40B640), Scientific Atlanta HD DVR Cable Box (Explorer 8300HD), Panasonic Blu-Ray Player (DMP-BD60), SlingCatcher, Monoprice HDMI Switch (HDX-501)....all with my Harmony 900 w/ 2 Blasters

PS - LOGITECH...yet another instance where we need the automatic method removed...I'm tempted to start 'tagging' all these threads as such

Then my feature request submission on your behalf will wait until the 'tagging' begins :smileyvery-happy:

I've tagged a bunch as "manual_setup"

other 'power users' please join me in tagging any older and new threads in the same fashion...maybe we can get logitech to change it

Re: Trying to set up a new TV and cable box/PVR on my Harmony 520...

OK. I'm new here and a new Harmony user, so it's possible I don't know what I'm talking about. I went through the same problem as the OP. Throught trial and error, I figured out the solution. I too found that automatic mode as so often happens made things more difficult. But why can't the cable box/PVR's in the database be tagged as being able to change channels? Wouldn't that save a lot of headaches?

Re: Trying to set up a new TV and cable box/PVR on my Harmony 520...

That's not the problem as all satellite receivers and DVRs and all cable receivers and DVRs can change channels.  The problem is there is a bug in the Automatic setup of Activities that gives you the error message that there are no devices that can change channels.  The error message also can show up with only a TV listed in the automatic setup method.  Unless the TV is only a monitor (has no tuner) then it can change channels.
