Using Input to Power On AV Receiver

[ Edited ]
The remote for my AV receiver can use its dedicated Input buttons to both power the receiver on and go directly to the chosen input(simultaneously).  I have been unable to find a way to program this method of power on into my harmony 520 - it insists on using a two step process (power on, input).  The Logitech programming software seems to have no concept of using anyhting other than a dedicated power button to turn a device on, this is the fundamental problem I can't seem to get around, any suggestions?  It's not like it doesn't work as a 2-step process, it's just more effiicent and quick to do it with one key press instead of two.

Re: Using Input to Power On AV Receiver

Your AVR requires a power command and an input command, these are 2 separate commands in the database.  And then input command is dependant on the power on delay setting for the AVR.  All devices that use an input command such as TV's and AVR have to wait until the the device is fully powered on before it can send an input command that the device can see.

Hi odie,

I am the same way, always looking for the fastest and simplest way to accomplish a task:smileyhappy:. While somewhat uncommon, your AV receiver having the ability to power on with an input command is achievable. You can program this in the Harmony software. You will need to do the following:

1. Set the PowerON command for your AV receiver to "none"

2. Set the Power-On delay for your AV receiver to 0

When starting an Activity, the Harmony will ignore the power on (none). The Harmony will wait for the Power-On delay to pass, which is '0'. Then it will send the appropriate input command.

Basically the above demonstrates how the Harmony will power on your AV receiver immediately with the correct input command.

Regards,

Mark
