Watch TV insists on using DVD-R for Channels

I have a Harmony 670 with a Sharp Lc-30HV4M TV.

For the Watch TV activity, it insists that it needs another device to change Channel, and none of the existing devices can, such as my Digital Set Top Box. Only by (re-)adding my LG DVD/VCR Recorder will it be happy, and insist on using it, although it is not used for watching TV.

any way around this, other than some fudge of having it switch it off afterwards?

Re: Watch TV insists on using DVD-R for Channels

This TV's commands in the database include the normal channel up and down, so when you set up a WatchTV either automatically, or by the preferred manual method, it must be offered as a device to change channels.

I suggest setting up the Device and Activity again, and if the problem persists let us know so that we can try to help further.

Re: Watch TV insists on using DVD-R for Channels

I redid the setup for the Watch TV activity, this time on Manual. I had used Austomatic as I figured it knew best and I was new at it.

This solved my problem. The requirement for the DVD-Recordder/VCR is gone, and it works as expected.

Solution: Use Manual Setup.

Thanks very much for letting us know.

It's very odd though, that even the Automatic method didn't offer the TV for changing channels.

No problem. Yes, I thought so too, it seems obvious that a TV has the ability to change channels.
