expressvu 6100 no remote

Hello,

My Expressvu remote recently stopped working and I purchased the Harmony 700 as an improved replacement since it is supposed to be able to control the satellite receiver.  However, it seems that the only way I can get the 700 to work is to have a working Expressvu remote.  The remote address on the receiver is set to 11.  Is there any other way to change the receiver setting to '1', or the Harmony setting to '11' without having a working original remote?

I tried doing the remote training (in case it was a problem with the receiver) but that didn't work either, so I know it is a problem with the original remote.

Thanks,

Robert

When you enter it as a device it will ask you if you have a remote or not.  Tell it no this will set your Harmony to address 1.  Then all you have to do is go to the System info screen on the Expressvue(press menu twice).  Once there hit the record button 3 times.  This will set the Receiver back to address 1.  You should now be good to go.

At the System info screen for the TV1 remote address is it IR or UHF/IR?

Re: expressvu 6100 no remote

Thank you Towboy for saving me from my own stupidity.  I was following the instructions I had read previously but I thought the record button meant the one on the Expressvu remote, not the Harmony remote.  Once I read your message I realized my mistake and now everything seems to be working great.

Thanks again!

Robert

Re: expressvu 6100 no remote

I'm glad you got it sorted and yes you would usually use the Expressvue remote but it is not necessary.

The Expressvue box is a relabeled Dish Network box so any advice you find here for Dish Net will also apply to you.
