Harmony Remotes - Programming

I am feeling VERY jaded right now after dropping $200 on a remote with EXTREMELY bad setup software.

I have the lastest IMAC 24in 2.66GHz I installed the software. My machine reboots. I run the software.

It warns me that "Before the software can communicate with the remote control, your operating system may ask you to enter the administrative password to configure the device driver." Fine, hit OK. "Please connect your remote to system's USB port." OK or Cancel. Hit OK...

"Please connect your remote to system's USB port." OK or Cancel. Hit OK...

"Please connect your remote to system's USB port." OK or Cancel. Hit OK...

IT IS NOT SEEING MY REMOTE.

Sorry to hear about your experience thus far. When installing the old Harmony software (likley from the setup CD) a question pops up asking "Are you installing a Harmony 1000", answering yes to this question will force you to connect a Harmony 1000 remote. In order to resolve this issue, you will need to uninstall the current version, and install the latest version (7.5)

Once you have finished the uninstall, you will need to install the latest version here

I hope that this setback does not deter you from enjoying a great remote

P.S. The 7.5 software is much improved for Mac OS X, there will not be a reboot, and there will not be any questions asking you to connect your remote pre-install.

I have new Harmony one remove

IBM A31 Laptop with linksyswireless dual band network and cable access at 130kps

Latest harmony software downloaded from web

Cannot get software to see device

Application runs

Donwloads updates

Device says "usb connected'

BUt software wont connedct

Help would be appreciated

Welcome to the forum.

The Harmony should not be connected until you receive a prompt.

As the application runs you should get the option to Create New Account.

At which stage does the problem arise and what message appears?
