Sometimes, it's just a "bug fix" but it's not usually a problem and oftentimes, gives you some new things you didn't have before. Set the newly updated device up as a new device, then, you can go into one of your activities using that device and replace the "old" one with the new "updated" one. You will be able to see quickly if there are any problems--or new functionality you didn't have before. I would carefully check it on one activity that uses that device however, because if there have been any major changes, you will have to reprogram them on all activities which use that device. An example would be, recently I had an update to my Yamaha 7.1 (THX Certified) receiver. The old commands that I used to tell it to turn on the THX or the Dolby Digital had completely different names with the new "update." Before, they were simply Dolby Digital/dts and THX. On the newly updated device, they were listed as sfdolbydigital/dts and sfTHX. This meant when I put them into my activities which use my receiver, all of my original Dolby Digital/dts and THX buttons disappeared from my configuration and had to be reprogrammed with the new commands. You may already know this, so just a word of caution. I have found most of the equipment updates however, to be pretty helpful.

Harmony 659 (Loved it--not the first Harmony remote, but the first one with real consumer appeal)
Harmony 880 (It had a great, for the time, customizable display screen that still functions nicely)
Harmony ONE (Full Color Touch Screen Love--'nuff said!)
