Harmony Remotes - Software/Firmware

Hi there, new to these forums.

I have a Logitech Harmony 1000 and it is configured perfectly. About 3 weeks ago I purchased the RF Extender and it made life even better. However after a recent remote update I lost several buttons. I basically narrowed it down to this.

When I customize the buttons the way I want them with the RF Extender out of the picture every button is where it should be. However when updating the remote WITH the RF Extender alot of the buttons disappear and are also erased from the online profile.

I know there is a bad update going around at the moment but this is causing "sticky buttons" which I also get but is it also effecting the RF extender as well as the online profiles?

I have exactly the same problem...

Many of my activities have had all their buttons cleared (and they are not re-populated by re-running the wizard telling which device controls what)... All customized buttons are gone with the wind, on top of that the buttons that are still assigned works very poorly, i was not able to even use the volume control after updating, either it didnt respond at all, almost worked but was delayed by 5 sec or just shoot the volume massivly up or down, completly useless!

I recently bought the 1000 and the extender, ive had lots of problems with bugs in the update software for the remote (extender works more consistently), i had to switch to the web based update because the local Harmony Remote update application always got stuck at 3% when loading the new config to the remote... That seams to work better in 7.5 though (i used 7.4.3 before)...

I have a very complex setup with 16 rather complicated activities with 10 devices which has taken me about a week with a few hours every day to do, this problem was not what i needed...

I was starting to feel very pleased with the remote, until the last few days that is. I just hope that a release is made available for this ASAP!

Does anyone know when an update which dosent completly screw up the remote will be available? I read monday morning in anohter thread where a similar symptom was expressed, but now its tuesday night...

I've got the same problem if anyone's keeping track. Two thirds of my activities don't have any buttons at all until I delete the RF Extender and "Update Remotes".

I haven't seen any problems with buttons pressing multiple times...presumably because I don't have any buttons to press.

Same here.

I bought the 1000.

First it was a nightmare because I used the application to say that I changed my remote from the 880 to the 1000. When you do that the application is giving a Java error when you try to upgrade your remote :-( I fixed the problem by going through all setting screens and selecting default values for all my devices. This definitively fixes the Java Error when upgrading your 1000. If you don't do that the application try to program buttons that does not exist on the 1000 and this causes the error.

So after an evening of troubleshooting I was able to use the 1000 ... then I added the extender and the problems re-started, all buttons customization is lost each time you upgrade your setup. And the upgrade takes so long, you need to upgrade both the remote and the extender... I went through several cycles of customizing my activity ... upgrading ... seeing it does not work.

I try to control a Dreambox DM 800 HD satellite receiver, I have many bouquets of channels and needs to tweak a little bit the default settings.

Judging from the numerous calls I've made into Logitech and talking to level 1 and level 2 software support over the past 4 days, they have NO clue what is wrong with the software/servers.  WIth no clue what is broken, how are you gonna fix it?  They have no way to revert the servers back to pre 08-08-08 disastor day.

Had they been able to roll back their servers to pre-08-08-08, they would have done it.  But they can not.

This situation is NOT looking good.

I, like many others, have put at least 24 hours into programming and tweeking the custom buttons, etc over the past 8 months.  All this work is gone for good.  I feel for the rest of you all, having spent so much time spending programming these remotes - all for nothing now.

Why Logitech keeps their broken software/servers blows my mind.  Ya, lets keep known bad software that is ruining customers remotes online so more people can hose their $100-500 remotes.  I'm stupified!!!

How are we going to be conpensated for our lost time due to Logitech's incompadence?

No, it looks like we have to wait for logitech to release an upgrade.

I may try to remove the extender and use it without but my new Deambox has a very directional remote and the extender is so perfect for that.

All my problems started after I added the extender.

Wow, small world. I have EXACTLY the same problem with my Dreambox as well. Please hurry up Logitech and fix this problem because it is very frustrating.

And for the Dreambox they have inverted the yellow and green button. Each time you try to change that it revert back to the wrong state :-( I discovered that while trying to edit the settings of the box and it was not possible to use the green button ... of course green means yellow if you are using a logitech 1000 :-)

You can go to all the buttons of the dream by going into the devices but it's not very convenient... by example I wanted to get a fast access to the audio button but it disappear each time I try to program the remote because of this bug :-(

Have Logitech indicated whether they are aware of this problem and are actively trying to fix it? Surely this could not be a minor bug that can overlooked for some time?
