Re: Mac Software Issues/Troubleshooting

Yeah any news on 7.5 ACTUAL release date? My remote is a very pretty paper weight and has been for over 6weeks now!

Re: Mac Software Issues/Troubleshooting

Why would one schedule such an update for a thursday?
So people can screw up their system on friday and
not be able to contact support over weekend???

Apple frequently puts out major releases on a Friday. They just put out their iPhone 2.0 major software release on a Friday.

I'm a real Apple-fan, but did you notice how wrong that actually went???

I wasn't able to update my iPod touch halfway into the afternoon since everything
went down with them introducing the iPhone 3G + its registartion-process in 22 or so
countries, iPhone-update 2.0, iPod touch update 2.0 AND the App-store...

This is exactly why I usually have auto-updates OFF, so I can
see if all goes well and then update when it's convenient...

Re: Mac Software Issues/Troubleshooting

I own many Logitech products, so when I began looking for a way to simplify my home theater I was already slightly familiar with your products. As I began to look at them with the intent of purchasing however, I met with a series of disappointments. The first was the absurdly high retail price. I did discover that some on-line merchants had the Model 1000 at a price which was somewhat less outrageous, so I went a bit further. I had to laugh at your description of the product as stylish and elegant - as my son pointed out, even a Gameboy has you beat on that score, but that was far from a deal killer. You had extensive device support, and that was a real plus. Of course, having to contend with the nuisance of a rechargeable battery and charging stand was a negative. But I was willing to overlook that. Then I decided to give your configuration software a look. You had Mac support, so far, so good (Linux is missing however!). But when I installed it, WHAT A DISASTER! Why are you camping on my USB port? Why do you use an installer instead of writing a nice clean app that one can simply drag into a folder and run? Why are you generally trashing the computer and taking it over? I spent 30 years of my life designing electronic hardware and writing software in support of it. There is no excuse for the half-a**ed mess you are creating with your bloatware. I would have thought Logitech could do a better job than this. I hope you will revamp this product line, but until you do I will just rely on HDMI-CEC and a little remote juggling to meet my needs.

I do wish to thank you for posting instructions on how to detox my computer after installing this beast.

I don't think they can have an application that you can drag to you applications folder because they need a USB driver to talk to the remote. An installer is much better then instructing you to drag several different files to different places in your system folder where the driver need to be.
