I haven't installed this software yet and don't know the purpose of those folders, but don't they really belong in ~/Library/Application Support/Logitech? I think ~/Documents is intended for files that users specifically want to store there, not that software automatically decides to put there.

If the client fails to launch and you receive the following:
This is caused by an incompatibility with the Harmony client and Case Sensitive file systems on OSX. By default, OSX uses a Non-case sensitive file system, where the software can install in a folder named Logitech, but the software can reference it as "logitech" or "Logitech" without a problem.
When using a Case Sensitive file system, the software looking for a folder named "logitech" will not find the folder "Logitech" and error out. Unfortunately there is no workaround short of trying another computer or reformatting to the Non-Case Sensitive system. Most applications have trouble with this file system.
Actually there is a workaround.
Here's how to achieve this:
* create a disk image with 'disk utility', make sure it's not case sensitive. About 100 megabyte is enough
* move the '/Applications/remotecore.app' and '/Applications/Logitech Harmony Remote Software.app' applications to that disk image
* create a symbolic link of remotecore.app to '/Applications/remotecore.app'
So if you mounted your created volume 'Logitech' you can create a symbolic link with:
$ ln -s /Volumes/Logitech/remotecore.app /Applications/remotecore.app
* make sure the image is mounted and start the 'Logitech Harmony Remote Software' located in that created volume.

All I get now when doing this is:
"The update is not complete. Give permission to write to the application folder. Check that your firewall software is not blocking the update. Try Again".
Unfortunately I can not find a way to disable the auto-update and just get into the application itself. So, I guess if you tell it to check on start you're screwed.
I do find this hilarious, though:
"Unfortunately there is no workaround short of trying another computer or reformatting to the Non-Case Sensitive system. Most applications have trouble with this file system."
I've ran case-sensitive file systems since somewhere in the late 90s, and this is the first application that ever had a problem with this.

Yes, it's my first app too. It's an easy way out, but the customers (us) are not helped by this. This makes the hardware useless because we did a 'custom' partition format included and supported by Macosx and Apple.
Actually I think most people who know/use linux (and other unix'es) prefer having case-sensitivity. This can be so **bleep** odd if it isn't.
If you look further where the application creates files, you'll figure out the developers are not familiar with programming for MacOSX, 2 (3) directories (browser - logitech, logitech, and case sensitive Logitech) exist in your home directory (I suppose they should be located in Library somewhere, now it makes a mess of my home directory).

I found the Logitech brand while research remotes that will integrate my new home theater system, flat screen, etc. And then found this Forum on the logitech web site. It is one of several brands I'm considering.
On this forum, the continuous reporting of software problems for Mac computers, going back at least to early 2007 and not yet fixed but "promised" in the next release, is a downer. I do not need another incomplete or poorly designed device to take up hours of my time only to achieve marginal operation.
Logitech needs to get some quality control on their software releases; quality software tools are the heart of these universal remote devices, which are of little use if they can't be programmed and customized conveniently.
I plan to continue researching and my go with something simple for now; I'd rather have less function but reliability and simplicity.

While I am happy to see that Logitech Harmony is correcting some problems on the Mac, it is worth noting that I've been using the software for years on Macs with no major problems. The most serious bug that I've encountered is that occasionally after updating the remote, the application will lose the ability to accept text input, and it will be necessary to restart the program.
I'm glad to hear that the new version will no longer put the software in the incorrect location, however. While this does not interfere with using the software, it is sloppy.
