Harmony Remotes - Software/Firmware

Hi all,

I have installed the newest Software 7.5.0 and Firmware 2.6 on my Harmony 555 (German) or 550 (English).

When I start the update the error "Step failed Adding text to an XML document must not be null" appears. The detzails of the log are:

Adding text to an XML document must not be null

I tried to different cables and deactivated my Kaspersky Firewall but nothing changed. I also deinstalled and reinstalled the Harmony Software. No change, the problem persists. I deleted the two new activities I have added. No change.

Please give advice how to solve the issue.

Hi,

I own a Harmony 525 and I get the same error message. After restarting the update several times, eventually it succeeds.

I also had this problem. I eventually found that it only occured when trying to program the 555 using a laptop running on batteries. When mains powered all was OK. I can only assume that the USB voltage was lower on batteries and this upset the 555.

Hi,

thank you very much for your useful hint about the stability of the notebooks power supply. Without that I would not have figured out the strange cause of my problem.

In my case the notebook is connected to the power supply. But I have a 300MBit USB WLAN stick which consumes a lot of energy  when plugged into one USB port. After I had removed this USB stick I was able to update my Harmony 555 remote control. This works as long as I have selected English as language. When I switch the language to German I get the error again.

Anyhow I can update the remote which is most important and makes me happy.

You just made my day. My Harmony 525 gets the programming right about 1 out of 10 tries. The support told me to hook up to external power, wich I allready had. After reading this thread I hooked my HP nc6220 to my port replicator (docking station) that has a stronger power supply than the travel adapter. Bam, it programmed 100% clean on first attempt. I even reprogrammed a couple of times just for fun, 100% every time.... Thanks again.
