550 not communicating with DirecTV HR24-500

Just switched from UVerse, and now I am trying to switch my "PVR" to my new receiver. But, it's not working. I've gone through the manual learning process with the remote USB connected. Anyone had this issue before?

I switched my DirecTV remote to IR from RF for the manual updates. I made sure I even walked over directly in front of the receiver and still there was no response from the PVR.

I did a search but nothing came back, so I'm sure it's something I did wrong. Thanks for any tips or help.

Re: 550 not communicating with DirecTV HR24-500

That's the wrong way to do it. Add a new HR20-700 (the current HR24-500 commands in the logitech database have issues). Then add it to your activity. All the commands are already in the database, so no learning is required.

I don't understand the part about switching to IR "for the manual updates". You have to leave the PVR in IR mode always.

Re: 550 not communicating with DirecTV HR24-500

Wow, thanks for the quick reply.

It still isn't acting like the HR20-700 is in the system for me. When I added it with the Remote Software (v7.7.0), I'm still asked if I have the original remote and taken to the next screen:

Communicating With the Remote
Please follow the instructions below

Ensure the remote is connected to your computer and stays connected during this process. Communication can take up to 30 seconds to begin.

But, maybe your other comment was my problem. I thought I was setting the remote to transmit in RF, not the receiver to receive the signal in RF. I'll do another test in a bit. My wife is currently taking advantage of our three months of free movie channels.

Thanks again. I'll come back after I get another chance to test.

Re: 550 not communicating with DirecTV HR24-500

That's all it was. I just needed to change the PVR setting to IR.

I knew it was going to be something simple like that. It always is for things I mess up.

Thanks for making me think about it. Problem solved.
