890 battery appears expanded

My battery in the remote is no longer flat, seems to have expanded on each side.  Makes the reomote hard to close the battery cover.

Should this be happening?  Still under warranty.

Thanks

Re: 890 battery appears expanded

Hi again,

another reason for immediately contacting Logitech support. Batteries of this type can explode. Logitech takes issues like this very serious. You better remove the battery and keep it in a safe place, until Logitech told you how to proceed.

Re: 890 battery appears expanded

Hello listener,  we definitely would take a exploding or leaking battery seriously.  I just wanted to post to let you & other Harmony users know that expansion of the battery that have the blue label is normal.

It is within the specifications from the manufacturer of those battery that they will/may incur some expansion during normal charging cycles.

Because of this information we have posted an FAQ to this question.

http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1076...

There are two obvious cases where it would be an issue.  Safety for a leaking battery, and one where it expanded to the point that it makes putting on the battery cover impossible.  People with these issues are urged to contact support for assistance.

Thanks,

DaneHarmony

Re: 890 battery appears expanded

The battery on one of my 890s (just under a year old) has expanded to the point that the plastic latches between the case and case cover are broken. The remote still charges and works, but it looks like an accident waiting to happen. I am getting pushed to email support which promises a response within one business day, but it's been a couple weeks with no response. Does anyone have a number I can call to get this addressed?

Re: 890 battery appears expanded

I would call or email and insist that this be taken care of immediately.  Send a PM to one of the guys with harmony in their name with your incident number and the details.  As you are within your one year warranty they should replace the battery and possibly the remote.
