Got the second RF extender from BB. It does indeed have the detachable p/s. Thanks.
Pairing the 2 RF extenders with the 890 Pro was brutal, but I'm happy to report that the system is now working beautifully. I got the AudioAuthority AVM-562 with 2 wallplates last Friday and setup 2 zones right away. Music Room and Gym. My single 890 Pro handles this nicely. There were a few programming hurdles, however.
1. In a multi-zone setup, the sources are on all the time, so audio can be heard even after the LCD TVs power down. To handle this, I was sending a Mute On command to the RGC11 volume control for the zone when leaving an Activity and a Mute Off command when entering the Activity. This doesn't work well when changing Activities within a zone, however. You really only want to mute when powering down. A better approach is to modify the Power settings for the LCD TV and send 2 additional commands right after the PowerToggle. Send a command to set the default volume to Level 3 (the RGC11s have discreet volume levels that you can press to instantly get a volume setting without ramping up or down). After setting the volume to Level 3, send the Mute command. Next time you turn the system on, the Activity will start, and the Mute Off command will be sent to the RGC11, and the AudioControl 1250 12 Channel Whole House Amp will wake up on that channel. Without sufficient line level, the amp won't wake up, so setting it to Level 3 guarantees that no matter where the user left the volume right before powering down, when they power up, the amp will sense the line level.
2. The internal DVD is not a source feeding the AVM-562 so I wasn't getting any sound through the in-wall speakers during that activity. So take the AUDIO OUT from the AVM-562 wallplates and go directly to the AUDIO IN on the back of the LCD TV, then take the AUDIO OUT from the TV and go to the AUDIO IN of the whole house amp in the basement. This way, when you use the internal DVD player on the LCD TV, you get sound through the ceiling or wall speakers.
3. Make sure you adjust the Power On delay for the LCD TV from 3 seconds to 10 seconds. When powering up into the "DVD Local" Activity to use the internal DVD player in the Gym, the Inputs on the LCD TV weren't changing to DVD correctly. Turns out the input commands are being sent to the LCD TV, but since the LCD TV takes 10 seconds to power up and begin listening for IR commands, the Input commands were not being received.
Next step is to get a second 890 Pro into the mix.
