Re: Battery Life - H659 - you have GOT to be joking

if you don't like having to worry about battery life, you should have bought the 880, 890, or 1000 which all feature rechargeable batteries and a charging cradle

Re: Battery Life - H659 - you have GOT to be joking

I agree.  Not having to worry about batteries and having your remote eat them for no reason is completely different.

Re: Battery Life - H659 - you have GOT to be joking....no kidding.......

The batteries on mine need to be changed every 2 months, I for one was very upset at this, I have no glow, etc, and mine eats batteries like they are going out of style. Yet another failing of Logitech........if they are meant to last only this long the least they could do is tell you. Now that TV listings are gone as well, this remote is a complete failure and Logitechs competitors are looking pretty good........

2 months for a product that is essentially always on is darn good.
and your 2 months beats what other people are having problems with....

btw, from the online support:

How long can I expect the batteries to last? Detailed Description

How long can I expect the batteries to last?

 Answer

Battery life is typically two to three weeks with the remote. The actual battery life depends on:

  • How many devices are being controlled.
  • The length of time that the backlight is set to.
  • How much you actually use the remote.

You can extend the battery life of your remote by lowering the backlight timer. To adjust the backlight timer login to your home page, and then:

  1. Click My Remote Preferences.
  2. Click Settings.

Re: Battery Life - H659 - you have GOT to be joking....no kidding.......

furthermore, either separate batteries that you can recharge, or one of the higher models that come with a charging base would eliminate your replacing them every 2-3 months

Re: Battery Life - H659 - you have GOT to be joking....no kidding.......

Unfortunately rechargeables dont work well, and have an even shorter lifespan, and they dont fit in the remote well, and have tendencies to shake in the remote and turn off the power, which then requires you to update your remote. Tried mine with 2 brands of rechargeables, neither worked.
If changing batteries every 2-3 weeks then one will spend (AA batteries are $1.00 each when you buy a 12 pack) $1.33 - $2.00 per week on batteries for the remote which = $70.00 - $104.00 on batteries per year.....kinda steep.

Re: Battery Life - H659 - you have GOT to be joking....no kidding.......

then that should have been taken into consideration when making the decision to buy the remote....

I honestly can't speak to how rechargeable batteries fit in teh 659...I have the 880 with a charger base (and I've never had the base problem like most have)....money spent on batteries in the year I've owned the remote = $0.00
