Help would be gratefully received. In a nutshell the remote will not switch my Surround system to the 'optical-in' input from my TV (I get picture from Sky but not sound). I always have to go in manually after selecting the Activity to get the sound to work correctly. I figure this is something to do with the Samsung TV Anynet or Panasonic Viera link in the mini system - switching them off provides different results but never the desired outcome. The TV will switch instead to the wrong input.
TV - Samsung Plasma
Mini System - Panasonic SC-BT370 Blu-Ray and Home theater system
Sky box is connected to TV via RGB Scart. Optical out from TV connects to Mini system for surround sound. Mini system is connected to TV via HDMI1
Acitivity is - switch on all devices, put TV on Ext1 input (works fine) & mini system on 'D-in' (optical). This part falls down - the mini system switches to HDMI and does not select 'D-in'. Here's the frustrating part - if i turn of viera link and anynet the mini-system correctly ends up on 'D-in' but the TV no longer switches to Ext 1 but instead HDMI1, meaning i see my mini system's home page instead of my Sky input!
Anyone out there that can help please?!?!?!?!?!?

You are on the right path. Turn off all HDMI control (i.e., Anynet, etc.) in all devices of your system. Each mfg calls it something different. go to this link for the different names by mfg.
Also, if you have the audio going from tv to mini sys, why have the hdmi? Is it possible to ge the audio directly from the Sky+ to the mini sys?

Thanks for the reply. All HDMI control is switched off; still no joy I'm afraid.
Regarding the audio going from TV to the mini sys - this is mainly due to a Sky+ box not having any kind of decent digital output. Instead I have an RGB cable from Sky box to TV, then optical from TV to mini system. At least this way it picks up Dolby Surround. This also means that the Wii is also piped into the mini-system via the TV and the optical cable.

What input is the TV set to go to when you start the actual activity?
If possible can you reply with that everything is set to do in the activity that may help a bit to understand what is going on.

OK, that sort of makes sense. Still not understanding why you have the hdmi connection between the mini system and the tv? Sometimes when a device has more than one connection for a signal, it is forced to choose based on some sort of priority. HDMI usually takes priority over optical/coax, which is over rca.
Are you using discrete commands to change the inputs on the mini system (method 2)? For information on how to test for this, see this link
