Changing inputs on a Yamaha RX-V373 AV Receiver

I have Harmony 880 and Harmony 700 remotes and I have a new Yamaha RX-V373 AV Receiver.  It seems I can create activites to do everything I want except that neither remote will change the HDMI input on the receiver.  I treied a 5 second delay and sent a second signal to change input but was unsuccessful.  If I go to the Device button and click on the AV Receiver I can then change the input.  What can I do in creating activities to have the Harmony remotes change the inputs?  I am using all HDMI cables; no audio cables are used.

I assume that you are increasing the Power On delay for the AVR? Try increasing it some more.  Also be sure that you have HDMI-CEC control turned off for all of you devices

Re: Changing inputs on a Yamaha RX-V373 AV Receiver

Thanks for the reply.  Yes the time delay is on the AVR.  I have tried HDMI control ON and OFF on the AVR and it does not make a difference.  I am sure there is a simple solution but I have not come across it yet.  As soon as I power up the system with my Harmony remote I can use my AVR remote and instantly change the HDMI source input so I do not understand why the Harmony does not do it.  For now to get around the problem I have programmed my additional buttons on the Harmony display with the HDMI codes so that if the AVR is on HDMI1 and I want HDMI2 for DVDs I just hit the HDMI2 button and it changes right away

Re: Changing inputs on a Yamaha RX-V373 AV Receiver

Have you increased the Power On delay for the AVR some more than what you have it set at, 5000ms?

Yes, changed delay to 10 seconds and no difference.

Re: Changing inputs on a Yamaha RX-V373 AV Receiver

Hi jfd34,

It seems that the Yamaha AVR failed to receive the needed command to change inputs properly.  I may suggest that you have to change the Inter-Device delay of your AVR.

For instructions how to change the IDD of your AVR on Harmony 700, click here.

For Harmony 880 instructions, click here.

You may also send additional input commands at the start of the activity. Here is the instruction.

Regards,

Re: Changing inputs on a Yamaha RX-V373 AV Receiver

Thanks for the reply.  When I first read your posting I thought you had hit upon the solution (which it may be yet) however when I increased the inter-device delay to 2000 milliseconds it did not make a difference.  Let me point out a scenario and see if this helps.  After watching TV or listening to satellite music the AVR is shut off with the input on HDMI1.  If I want to listen to FM music, which uses only the AVR and nothing else, I start the activity (which has a 5000 millisecond delay programmed in to switch to Tuner) and the input remains on HDMI1.  What I have to do is push the FM or AM buttons that I have programmed as additional buttons and the input immediately changes to Tuner.  There is no inter device in this scenario.  Does that help in analyzing my problem?

Re: Changing inputs on a Yamaha RX-V373 AV Receiver

I must confess that the problem was me and not the Harmony remote or the AV Receiver.  I did not read the words thoroughly when selecting the options for programming the AVR and I chose option 3 because I have a Samsung TV and i should have chosen option 2.  Once I did that and mapped the inputs correctly everything worked as it should.
