Controlling two DVR/PVR on one television with one Harmony One remote (Roku and FiOS)

I just purchased my third Harmony One remote - so now we have one for each room.

I'm having a difficult time configuring my remote for a system with both a "cable" box as well as a Roku.

The setup is:

  • Westinghouse LCD TV/DVD
  • Verizon FiOS DVR
  • Roku HD N-1100

The challenge I'm having is that both the FiOS box and the ROKU are considered DVR/PVR devices, so the Harmony Remote software only sets up two default options:

  1. Watch DVD (which uses just the built in DVD on the TV)
  2. Watch TV (which switches to the FiOS on HDMI-1)

I really want a third option "Watch Roku" which would switch the TV to HDMI-2, turns on the Roku, and then sets the remote to operate the Roku for channel selection, pause/play, etc.

Any suggestions on how to configure this? Will I have to manually add all the operations for the Roku?

Help is appreciated.

Re: Controlling two DVR/PVR on one television with one Harmony One remote (Roku and FiOS)

Roku is considered as a DVD on the harmony database. You may need to create the following activities

  • Watch TV

      > Turn on FIOS Box

      > Turn on TV

      >  Switch TV to HDMI1

  • Watch DVD ( using built-in DVD)

       > Turn on TV

       > Switch TV ot DVD input

  • Watch ROKU (should be created using Watch a DVD category)

       > Turn on TV

       >  Switch TV on HDMI2

(No need to turn on ROKU, because it is always ON)

Regards,
