Directional keys repeat (double) twice per key depress

I am familiar with the Logitech Harmony products having used them for many years.  And, I've handled the quirks...including the lack of longevity of a number of the units.  Anyhow, this is the first time I've been stumped.

I'm using a Harmony® 1100 Advanced Universal Remote in conjunction with a new Samsund Blu Ray 3D player (BD D6500).  I have had an activity with a prior Samsung Blu Ray which worked just fine.  When I control the selection of options on menus, the directional keys enter twice...essentially, you can only land on every other option.  I've attempted various fixes.  I've set the repeat to 0.  I've also played with the "speed" settings, setting them both up and down.  Rather than continue to use the database-provided entries, I have also "learned" those keys from my original remote.  Nothing has changed the basic problem.  Any suggestions are welcome.

Are you using the RF Extender with your 1100?

Try using the RF Extender cables with the Boot Covers, then assigning the device to a port on the extender.

Happy to try...what are "boot covers"?

It is a large black cover that you apply over the the end on the IR Cable and IR window on your device to block any outside signal.

Re: Directional keys repeat (double) twice per key depress

New info...quite curious...  So, assuming that multiple emitters might be a problem (necessitating boots), I disconnected one.  The problem still occurred.  Then a rigged a home-made boot for the biforcated emitter.  The problem still occurred.  So, I disconnected the only remaining emitter from the IR receiver.  THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS.  So, then I realize that because I have both a Samsung TV and A Samsung BluRay, there's some fancy communication between them that allows the TV to communicate directly with the BluRay.  So, I believe, without total confidence, that the Harmony 1100 is talking to the TV, which in turn is talking to the BluRay...but that it passes double signal.  I will try to turn that off and utilize only the emitter capability.  Having said that, for various reasons, I'm not hopeful.  Maybe the most obvious reason is that I had (have in a box) a Samsung BluRay player that was working fine in an identical configuration.  Hmmm...

More tweaking and I will return with what occurs.  Thoughts more than welcome...

Hello Jooligan,

Make sure you have also done all these steps.

1. Reduce repeats for the effected device.

2. Assign the ports on the extender for each device.

3. Learn the effected commands in RAW format.

Re: Directional keys repeat (double) twice per key depress

Same issue, I too have a Harmony 1100 and a RF wireless extender.  I have the same issue with only the hard directional keys repeating themselves and on an irregular basis.  I have assigned specific ports, reduced repeats to zero.  No other controls have this issue.  I notice that when it repeats you can see the RF red light on the extender blink twice. This leads me to believe the 1100 is sending the signal twice, even though repeater for that command is set to zero.  I have two sets of the same controllers (1100) and extenders and have same problem in other room and yes (already checked) they are not being sent simultaneously.  Also, it does the repeating with several different pieces of equipment to include Cox Cable Box, Apple TV and Samsung TV.  Something is wrong with the hard key directional output.  Please advise solution.

Re: Directional keys repeat (double) twice per key depress

[ Edited ]

I have a similar issue with my Harmony 895 and RF extender and a Cisco ISB6030 HD Decoder with the directional keys . (does not respond sometimes , need to press twice for something to happen sometimes , jumps x times when pressed once , overall it does not react right on the directional buttons)

What i have done already , without success :

- used the database commands

- used RAW commands

- set values 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 in troubleshoot for repeats

- set values of 0 , 100ms , 200ms , 500ms , 600ms in troubleshoot for delay

- put black cover on one end/both ends of the channel A which im using

- attaching it directly to the device with the black cover

- Learned RAW commands for directional buttons again for over 4 times , pressing shorter/longer each time to learn it

- not setting a specific port on the RF extender but letting it broadcast on all channels

- used another remote from another Cisco ISB6030 to learn the commands

- check for firmware/software updates

- Curse

- Google

- find this thread and make a post

This is keeping me busy already for the last 2 days since updating both the repeater and remote take a long time and needs to be done with every single change .

Should be great to be able to write it in delta or something .

Waiting for a solution .

Regards .
