Turns out my problem was caused because a new version of the device settings for my receiver was available from Logitech. When I updated that device, it lost the receiver input for everything. Ugh. I went through the setup wizard for each activity and found the one that was misconfigured - it had no input chosen for the receiver. Once I fixed that, updating the remote worked just fine.
It seems like there was some sort of validation routine that was failing, but the software doesn't give you any idea of what's wrong. Pretty frustrating!

I am running into the exact same problem and I feel just the way you explained!
I spent hours and hours trying to get it started in the first place, including 2 separate calls to tech support. I just had things working (mostly) but I moved this week and when I set up the SAME devices, the remote didn't work for most functions.
I have since spent more hours and hours, but of course tech support is closed and can't help me. I tried updating the hardware and software (which were current), I closed and reopened the program, I rebooted the computer, I uninstalled, redownloaded and reinstalled the program, and I tried all the other suggestions in the thread. I ran through the wizard for the Watch TV activity and was unable to display content at the end of it. I tried to add a device (cannot display content), add an activity but cannot display content.
I am sick and tired of this remote and the constant frustration. I have spent more time trying to get it to work than actually using it, and am currently getting up to manually change volume because this is the remote that came with my tv .. I don't have another one.
I first used only the remote for my cable receiver because I wasn't willing to waste the time setting up the remote, and that's back when I expected it would work! It's only because I had to do a reset of the tv that I ever configured the stupid thing and I've regretted it ever since.
I don't know what else I can possibly do .. is there ANYONE who can help me? I can't BELIEVE this problem has been going on for so long and hasn't been resolved. Why the hell do I need broadband internet to watch tv, for crying out loud? and at least 45 minutes for the initial set up for the remote? It's RIDICULOUS!!
I see you received a pm from somebody .. did your issue get fixed? Maybe that person can help me, too?

FYI I just tried creating a new account and still got the same message ... what IS this? I've seen some posts that say it may be a server problem? I'm not a computer whiz .. what exactly does this mean? Is there something I can do on my end? If so, how do I fix that? I've been trying for more than 3 hours now , and I find it hard to believe that the system has been so overloaded that I haven't once been able to get through .. THIS is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!!

I'm getting this problem and its frustrating to say the least and I've been waiting for a response from support for 72+ hours now (Ref. 111113-001816, so much for you'll receive a response within 48 hours). I followed the instructions but i'm still getting the issue no matter whether I log in through the software or through the web.

I'm having the same problem with my Harmony One remote - used to work fine, I haven't used it for a little while, so I thought id plug it back in and change the settings - got "unable to display content" message.
Tried clearing cookies, firewall, etc - no good
Tried deleting logitech browser folder - no good
Tried deleting all devices/activities and updating - no good
Tried creating new account for this remote - no good

...Making changes to "Sound" under "Additional Buttons" is most definitely what caused this for me. "Reset to Defaults" fixed it immediately.

Ok, The last time I updated my 880 remote was back in 09 when I installed my U-verse receiver. Since then my computer died and I replaced it with a Window 7 machine and I'm now starting to upgrade all my equipment that I bought 6 yrs ago as well and I wanted to check if there was an update for my remote. Well I download the latest version of Harmony (7.7.0), plug in my remote, and I can't get past the 2nd "preferences: login information " screen. Just a blank page with "Unable to display content, click next" then back to square one. Is it something on my end or with Logitech? I bought this remote at the end of 05 and loved it, I was always able to log in and change things, with no prob. I think I remember the Customer support line being free, what happened?

A couple of years ago, Logitech changed the telephone customer support to only 90 days, online email support can still be had for the length of your warranty periond free.
