Harmony 1100 + RF Extender - random slow button sends

I have a Harmony 1100 and an RF Extender. Some days pressing buttons on the remote sends the commands instantly, but other days there is a nearly 1 second pause between sends. (as per the device response and the transmit icon on the remote)

I took the RF extender out of the loop and set everything to control via IR, and didn't see the issue once in 7 days.

Thinking I might just have a bad remote or RF box, I purchased a brand new set from Best Buy, only to find it does the same thing. I don't think it is an inter-key delay problem, because sometimes it works perfectly. And I haven't found any pattern to when it will have the slow send issue. But when it happens, it continues sometimes for hours at a time, other times it returns to normal by the next commercial break. I put it on the charger each night, so I doubt it is a battery issue. (and certainly not with 2 different remotes/batteries/extenders doing the same thing)

Anyone have suggestions?

Re: Harmony 1100 + RF Extender - random slow button sends

There might be some interference from another device, such as a baby monitor, cordless phone, etc that is causing the problem.  Do you have any close by neighbors, that might have a device that is causing the interference?

I do have neighbors, but I am not sure what frequency the remote and extender commuicate on. And is it a 2 way communication? I'm not sure how interference could cause the remote itself to send slow unless it is waiting for a reply from the extender on each command.

Still looking for a solution on this one. 2 different remotes, 2 different extenders, all with the same end result. Sometimes it works fine, other times it lags so much I want to chuck the entire setup.

Humm these are intermitent issues are always fun to play with, as rhatchy did say it could be interference, but you can always try updating the firmware on the RF extender and the remote as well. To put the RF extender in safe mode hold down the connect button while plugging into computer, and for the remote take the battery out and hold down the power button and put the battery back in. Then update the firmware on both. Let me know how that goes then we can go from there

Re: Harmony 1100 + RF Extender - random slow button sends

Hi!

I have the same problem and had made a Firmwareupdate with no change.

The Logitech Hotline has no solution, too. They know about the behaviour, but have no idea (or better say no intention) to change it. Many people are reporting about this problem in some other threads. But there dont seem to be enough people complaining, to make Logitech try to change anything.

I regret having bought this Remote (1100er with Extender).

btw: the comunication (1100er to Extender) is not bi-directional. So interferences cant be the reason. Its definitely a software-problem, because the remote sometimes sends the command immediately and sometime waits for 1-2 seconds before sending (the "send-icon" appears 1-2 sec after the button was pressed).

I have the exact same problem. Has anyone found a solution?

Can't believe they aren't willing to fix it.

Re: Harmony 1100 + RF Extender - random slow button sends

I've been having the same issue now, for about a week and a half now.  Very frustrating when trying to fast forward through commercials, and not being able to press play on time.  Is there ANY solution to this YET?

It's obvious that Logitech doesn't care about this problem.

Re: Harmony 1100 + RF Extender - random slow button sends

I also have an 1100 with the wireless extender, and every command sent has a huge delay. If I repeatedly press a button quickly, for example when flicking through the program guide, it takes the remote several seconds to catch up after I've finished pressing. Throughout this time I can see from the on screen icon that the 1100 is delaying the transmissions. When used without the extender the 1100 works as expected with very minimal delay.

I have been through it a number of times with Logitech customer services, they sent me a replacement extender but it made no difference. They finally told me that there was nothing else they could do.

I can't believe the problem has been around for so long without any kind of fix, or apparently any intention to fix. This is supposed to be the flagship product!
