I apologize if this has been discussed. I did a search and read some threads but haven't been able to get a definite answer to my problem.
I use to be able to press any button to activate the glow light such as the the channel, volume and disc buttons. What happens now is that it is dimly lit when these buttons are pressed. Can someone confirm that when these buttons are pressed it does indeed activate the glow light?
If there’s a thread that I may have missed please paste a link here. Thank you for your time.
Found this link and tested my remote. It failed. Time to open a ticket.

I can give you the definate answer you are seeking. The glow light will not turn on with the buttons you mention. The Harmony 550 will glow the Activities button, the LCD screen, and lightly glow the blue ring of the D-pad (Okay button), when you push channel or numbers etc. It will quickly turn off once you let go of the button.
The glow will only turn on if a LCD screen soft button, LCD screen left/right arrow are pushed, or the Glow button itself is pushed. Glow will turn off after specified time in the accounts 'Display' setting.
The FAQ that you linked is not the correct one for your Harmony 550. It was written for a 600 series remote (659, 670, 620, etc). In all indications from your post, your Harmony 550 is glowing correctly.

Thank you for your reply.
I did some more searching and found a post where EricHarmony replies "To enable the backlight simply press any button like the volume or channel buttons. Here is a link to the post EricHarmony's Post eighth post down and also read the reply post by NOTS3W he says "The problem with pressing the likes of the up channel button to restore the backlight is that the channel changes as well." right below EricHarmony's post indicating that indeed it does work in that fashion. It worked on my remote up until a few days ago. I think after I changed the batteries or updated the firmware it has not behaved in a normal fashion.
Also nowhere does it say in the FAQ link I posted indicating that it applies to any specific model.
