Harmony 670 and Bell 9241

Hi,

This is not your usual RF/IR learning problem, where you have to switch the 9241 remote to IR so it can learn from the Harmony remote.

I have a 670 which can control a Bell 9241 satellite receiver fine, usually.  However, there seems to be some IR signal problems because sometimes I have to press a button a couple of times or repoint the remote to get it to work.  The 670 worked fine with my previous cable box which was replaced by the 924, in the same location.  I have replaced the batteries in the 670.

Any ideas on how I can increase the signal strength?  Do you have an extender which will work with the 670?

Re: Harmony 670 and Bell 9241

Hi,

first of all, there is no Logitech extender which will work with the 670. But there are third party IR-repeaters, which will do the job. BTW, you didn't mention your TV. Some of the newer LCDs and Plasmas emit a IR radiation, which will interfere withe the signals of Harmonys. It was reported, that disabling some of the picture improvement features for the TV, could be a relief for the situation.

Re: Harmony 670 and Bell 9241

Hi,

Yes, still trying to find a half decent IR extender, in case I cannot resolve this problem.

This is an older rear projection LCD TV, and the Harmony remote works flawlessly with all other devices, just not the 9241, so pretty sure TV IR radiation not the problem.

Re: Harmony 670 and Bell 9241

the box may be in the same physical location, but where on the old box was the IR receiver?  where on the new box is the IR receiver?

Yes, since I last posted I have been reading up on IR interference and it seems the 9241 and others can be more susceptible then other devices.  I'm definitely going to look into it...change locations, lighting, TV light settings, etc.
