Harmony Remotes

Had it for about a year.  Had marvelous experience with it.  Recently, some buttons only seem to work about half the time.  Guide, exit, 1,2,3 all work fine.  0, 9, mute don't seem to work at all.  Also, the activity select buttons seem to be failing.

Have the touch pads worn out and I just need a new remote or does someone have a fix for me?

fwiw, I'm putting together a general "how to" for "out of warranty" remotes explaining how to open the case and clean the button contacts for those with no other options and the understanding that doing so could result in a totally dead remote.

In general, the button contacts are the only repair possibility short of having access to a serious tech repair facility...   The other main problem is screen failure and addressing that is way beyond the capabilities of most tinkerers.

I'll post to this thread when the "how to" is live.

I'm having the very same problems, volume and some activity buttons must be pressed so hard and more than one time for it to work. I hope soneone explains how to open and clean the remote.
