Harmony 880 - Network Connection Error & Error Uploading Remote Info to Web

[ Edited ]

Hello,

I've tried to search for an answer to the problem I have with my Harmony 880.  I just received it earlier today and I've docked it for a couple of hours.  I've also plugged it into a USB port on my computer.

The problem started after installing the software, "Error: Your network connection is not functioning properly."  Okay, so I checked the support forums and decided to try logging into "members.harmonyremote.com" and ran the setup from there.

It registered everything from my remote and other tests turned out successful EXCEPT for "ERROR: uploading remote control information to web : The information has not been updated to the web site. - The information was not sent. Check your USB cable and try again. If the problem persists, contact customer service."

I've read other people's problems with this and can't seem to get any of the proposed solutions to work.  I've taken out the battery and reinstalled. I've rebooted my computer.  I've tried different USB ports.  I've disabled anti-virus and firewalls.  I even plugged my internet directly into my computer and disabled my wireless connection!  And I still can't connect to the Logitech servers to program the remote.  From what I've heard, the remote is awesome.  I just wish I could get passed the installation.

I'm using remote software version 7.5.  Please help!  I was really looking forward to putting 5 remotes away.

Much thanks for anyone who can help,

Eric

[EDIT]

Also, looks like the remote connects to my computer just fine via USB.  So, is it a server problem with Logitech?  That seems to be the trend.  Am I just supposed to "get lucky" and connect one of these days?

Re: Harmony 880 - Network Connection Error & Error Uploading Remote Info to Web

what country are you in?  what's your internet connection type?

certain combinations of that (specifically south african adsl) need to setup a proxy.  also, your firewall (either on the computer or the hardware firewall in the router) could be blocking the connection

Thanks for the response.

I'm in the USA.  And I shut down all of my firewalls.  I didn't turn off the router firewall because I connected the internet directly into my computer.

I'm pretty sure it isn't the remote ...

you may need to add certain logitech associated sites to your routers safe list...what router do you have?

Re: Harmony 880 - Network Connection Error & Error Uploading Remote Info to Web

It looks like it was either Ad-Aware or AVG Anti-Virus causing the problem ... I'm not sure which one it was.  But with AVG Free and Ad-Aware service, you can't disable them ... I tried my best to delete them from my processes, but they just kept coming back ... So, I just uninstalled both of them and the program connected to the internet ... Thank goodness!
