Harmony Remotes

I can't get my Harmony to mimic the VRC-1100.  I've tried using ORtec, Auviso and Hama but all will work just a few functions (TV guide, up, down) but nothing that makes it useful and none of the functions apear on the Harmony display.  Do I have to 'teach' the Harmony or is there another device that will work?

The VRC-1100 works great with my Windows 7 Media Center but, of course, I want to control the other components too.
