Harmony 880 with HD-dvr Cisco RNG200 delay issues

Hello everyone,

I recently recieved a new receiver, the Cisco RNG200 from Comcast and when I programmed my 880 remote with that particular device, when I try to just click on any numbers to change the channel or fast forward or rewind, no matter what button I hit, it seems to be a really big lag that is driving me nuts.  I have it working with my TV and receiver just fine, but the remote is giving me alot of grief on this.  I have to hit a button like 5 to 6 times before it registers that I hit it so changing channels and fastforwarding is a huge headache b/c it justs won't work.

I did a search on the forums and it looks like ppl were having the '0' issue where any button they pushed would result in a '0', but I don't think this is the same issue.  It's more of a timing one.  I also think I saw where you have to reprogram the keys for the Cisco RNG200 device to respond correctly?  Do I need to call a logitech rep to do that?  Please let me know.  My wife is giving me grief on how I spent too much on a device that doesn't work like intended!  I've read good reviews on this remote on Amazon b4 purchasing, so I'm hoping this is just an issue that can be resolved quickly.

Also, reading thru some of the posts, the logitech tech supports ppl do a pretty good job at responding, so kudos to them...

Re: Harmony 880 with HD-dvr Cisco RNG200 delay issues

I have the cisco RNG200...the delay issues associated with this device were specifically related to the original IR commands.  back in the beginning of october I worked with logitech over the phone (they didn't yet have a device in house to do testing on) and we were able to actually edit the commands themselves so that the delay was eliminated.  I've been using my harmony remotes with the RNG200 ever since with no issue.  the changes were made to the public database, so they were fixed for everyone.  if you're still experiencing delays, contact tech support and have them look at their work logs for Saturday, October 4, 2008...the tech's name was Johnny.

Thanks for the reply.  I will try to get a hold of tech support sometime during the week if possible, and if not I just try to reprogram.

Re: Harmony 880 with HD-dvr Cisco RNG200 delay issues

I contacted support via email and they did reply noting that my device was updated so I tried to update my remote and still the same issues.  I also tried learning all the commands from my dvr (grey Comcast) remote to my 800 but still the same issues.  I tried tweaking the 'Inter-key delay' by bumping up from 0 to 200 and even 300ms but still same thing.  Couldn't tell if it was making it worse or not.  Also tried updating 'Inter-device delay' from 500 to 1000 and 1500ms but still no go.  I did reply to Logitech so hopefully this can be fixed soon.

Re: Harmony 880 with HD-dvr Cisco RNG200 delay issues

why would you be increasing any of the delays?  that would only slow things down more.

please read the definition of delays/repeats sticky for more information on the delays

I'll see if I can have someone contact you, but I recently set up a harmony remote with the RNG200 (about a week or two ago) and it's working fine...no delays.  so it must be something specific to your setup and not the device profile

Re: Harmony 880 with HD-dvr Cisco RNG200 delay issues

Thanks again for the reply!  I was just trying something thinking that maybe my dvr was not picking up the signal so bumping up the delays would allow it to maybe see it or something.  I also did try the troubleshooting step and where it mentioned if your remote was either accepting commands too fast or too slow and I changed that property down (forgot which property).

Anyhow, thanks for trying to get someone to contact me, that sounds great.  I'll be checking my email when I get off work later then!

Re: Harmony 880 with HD-dvr Cisco RNG200 delay issues

Hey guys,  I am the person who assisted WannabeActuary with his Cisco box.  Unfortunately at the present time, we are having issues reliably controlling Cisco RNG200 cable boxes.  I am currently in contact with Comcast attempting to find a solution.  Not all cable boxes are responding correctly and it varies from unit to unit.Though I was able to resolve WannabeActuary's issue, we have found that it has not been successful with other users using the same device. We will reply soon once we have more information. Thanks,

Johnny

Re: Harmony 880 with HD-dvr Cisco RNG200 delay issues

Hey there!  Having lots of headaches with my Harmony 676 and the Cisco RNG200 myself.  The main thing now is having to hold the buttons down for anywhere from 2-5 seconds to get the box to respond.  Is there anything new to report on these issues?

Many thanks!

Same issue for me with the Harmony One.  Need to hold down the buttons for 1-2 seconds in order to get it to work.

I would appreciate any update on this.

Re: Harmony 880 with HD-dvr Cisco RNG200 delay issues

Please, please, please say there is a fix for this now.  There is nothing more fustrating than this.  I have been experiencing the exact same issue.  Oddly enough it was doing the same thing when using the remote that Comcast gave me for the RNG200.  I miss you dish network!
