Harmony 900 vs Harmony 1100 (Old Remote Keys Broke) So Upgrading

I have had a Harmony 676, 880 and now I currently am using a 1000.  My 1000 is a year and a few months old and the circular button actuator in the down button has quit working and thus the button now works intermittenly.  Harmony support said "there was nothing they could do to my $500 remote" since I am past the one year mark so they of course offered me a coupon to upgrade.  The 1000 hasnt exactly been my favorite remote as it freezes up, its not really DVR friendly, sometimes takes too long to send the signal to the TV etc.

Thus I have turned my debate over to the 900 vs 1100 remote line.  What is your opinion between the two remotes?  Did they get all the problems fixed in the 1100 that the 1000 had?  Is the 900 a solid remote?  I really LOVED my 880 but when the 1000 came out I thought it was too cool for school and had to have it.

Your thoughts and suggestions are WELCOME!

The 1100 is equally cool and much more reliable.

If you don't want the large screen format the 900 does all that the 1100 does.

Is the 1100 worth the extra kashish over the 900?  My one downside to the 1000 that bothered me was when trying to fast forward, rewind, etc with the 1000 it was a pain because you always had to pay careful attention to which putting you were pushing and sometimes you would have to push it multiple times to register.  I DVR ALOT.

So do I, so I have the transport commands Customised to hard buttons as well as on the screen.

In some ways the 900 is better - such things as making RF settings on the remote not the software.

Yea I am leaning toward the 900 as I really liked the 880 however I was waiting to see if anyone comes out with a smoking gun on why I should choose the 1100 over the 900.

The 1000 had so many problems Im still leary of them fixing them all.

All reports say the 1000 problems are fixed on the 1100, and it hasn't given me one in six months.

I also have a 900 though, and it's as good, so the choice is down to the quite different designs.

What is your bare bones impression between the two?  I like the touch screen (has a great cool factor for guests) however for a DVR it is somehwat of a pain in the arse.  The price difference isnt bad (50% off either) when you break it down except for the RF Extenders, which I already have a set for my 1000 that I havent even used yet.

What do you think?

Are the old RF Extenders Compatible with the 1100?  Or are the new ones better?  The lady says she likes the 1100 better.....

Yes - it is compatible. My experience (I have both the 900 and the 1100) is that the old extender is more reliable but the new one is a lot more easier to setup - you don't have to update them with an usb cable from the computer - it's done wireless. The new extender (or blaster as Logitech named it) is not compatible with the old one so you can't use the old extender with the 900 and the 1100 with the new one.

For me, the 1100 and 900 is almost equal in function - it's the form factor thats different.

The 900 is a standard looking and feeling remote that you can pick up and use any time without even looking at it.

The 1100 has that kewl factor - you pick it up, look at it, handle it, and play around with the screens.

They both do the same thing, just in different ways.

Those PVR transport keys are not a problem on the 1100 btw - I have the commands customised to hard buttons as well as on the screen.
