Harmony 900 vs. Revue vs. Comcast STB

[ Edited ]

Here's my situation:

Revue using keyboard remote controls my Comcast STB flawlessly - no delays, all functions work perfectly, etc.

I've got my 900 programmed to include the Revue.  The 900 handles all of the GTV functions that are not related to the Comcast STB just fine (apps, GTV menus, Chrome, etc.).  But when I try to perform any functions related to the STB (channel up/down, guide, number entry, etc.), the results are dicey.  Sometimes the action works, sometimes it doesn't.  Very erratic.

Prior to installing the Revue, the 900 controlled the STB just fine.

So in summary, STB controls via the Revue keyboard work fine, but the same controls via the 900 are problematic, although the 900 interfaces with the Revue just fine for non-STB functions.

Any ideas?

Re: Harmony 900 vs. Revue vs. Comcast STB

I had the same problem with my Motorola Cable/DVR. I actually had to customize the buttons on my remote in the "Watch TV" activity to go directly to my STB opposed to going through the revue. This works for me for now. I was told it was due to conflicting IR signals. I hoped the 900 would pair with the revue since they both use RF... Needless to say I was VERY disappointed after spending this amount of money on 2 devices from the same company.

Re: Harmony 900 vs. Revue vs. Comcast STB

I'm with you.  Using the Revue keyboard for TV, and the 900 for other stuff was annoying my family, so last night I disconnected the Revue and reinstalled my media center PC running Boxee (which the Harmony controls just fine).  It's nice to be able to control everything with the same remote again.

And now that the Boxee Box is shipping, the Boxee software seems to have gained some functionality since the last time I ran it.  Hundreds of apps, including Vudu.  Not to mention that the networks aren't blocking access, as they are with Revue.

Revue is going into storage for now (return period has passed).
