Harmony One : Activity issues

[ Edited ]

I just bought this remote and I am using the latest 7.5.0 software, bear with me if I am asking something obvious.

[Edited: Deleted question about activity reconfiguration, The software tries to be so step-by-step that it becomes counterintutitive]

Since I have a recorder (Pana DMR-EX85) I was thinking of setting up a "Record TV" activity, I wonder how it will interact with other activities??

Say I program a recording for tonight and while the DVD starts recording I happen to come in and "Watch TV" (which only uses the TV and receiver), will it mess my recording?, if I want to watch a DVD will also my recording get interrupted since One might assume it has to power on the DVD?

How do you make it work?

Thanks.

Hi and welcome.

"Configuration" and "elements" aren't words that I've come across before in the Harmony software. Could you let us know exactly where you find them, and more importantly give more information about what you want to achieve? Any command for any device within any Activity can be Customised to any hard button or virtual screen button, so that shouldn't be presenting any problem.

How to handle recording sessions can be a more complicated matter, and to a large extent that depends on the way the devices deal with it. The usual method on a Harmony is to have a separate Activity that includes the recorder but allows other devices to be used while the recording proceeds.

Re: Harmony One : Activity issues

Disregard my first question, in the activity page when I chose "Configure" for Watch DVD and then "Review the settings for this Activity" and "Yes, but I want to add more control of options and devices for this Activity" I only had "Save/Cancel/Ready" so I misunderstood that the software didn't give me any chance to modify the pre/post actions. It turned out to be that "Save" is akin for the more common "Next" and allows you to go through all the steps again, as you surely know.

(Anyway "Save" in there doesn't make any sense because you haven't made any change yet, maybe a translation error? , I'm running the software in Spanish)

So if you can give me more info on recording, I find puzzling that the suggested activities "based on your hardware" from Logitech are "View Telextext" and "Listen Music" when I have a DVD/HDD recorder in place, wouldn't it be obvious that TV recording is a natural activity?

Thanks

Hi again - that's OK.

It appears that you are letting the software set up your Activities automatically. Now start to do it yourself, manually!

Yes, that "Save" is pretty much a nonsense, one of the little oddities that Harmony users learn to tolerate with a smile.

Going on from my suggestion try setting up an additional WatchTV Activity, then review its settings and when you get past the page with the "Save" you will get the opportunity to include the recorder in it.
