Harmony One+ Panasonic TV TX-32LXD700

I am a new user of Harmony One.  I have followed all User Instructions for programming the device but cannot get the Remote to switch on or off my TV.  I have programmed the Remote in the 'learn' mode using the TV remote but it still will not switch on/off using Harmony.  So far Logitech Technical Help have not solved the problem and am now waiting an email response.  From others I understand there is a problem with a Panasonic TV switching as they require a longer 'duration'. I have increased, arbitrarily, the duration settings but so far without success, likely because I don't know what I am doing. I have switched the Viera control off which I understand can cause problems when using Harmony.

Does anyone who has gone through this problem have any suggestions on how to set Harmony on/off control for the correct 'duration' to start and stop the TV?

As an aside, as this seems to be a known problem with Panasonic TVs at least this particular model, I don't understand why the solution is not incorporated into the Logitech database.

Edward

Do you mean that you have LEARNED ALL of the commands for your TV into the Harmony from the original remote?  If so, why?  Surely when you added the DEVICE for the TV (make and model), the commands were all generated.

Are you using ACTIVITIES to try and turn on and off your TV.  Remember Harmonies are designed for the user to use Activities and not Devices.  The power ON and OFF are handled automatically normally when enterring or exiting an Activity.

Re: Harmony One+ Panasonic TV TX-32LXD700

Yes, that is exactly what I did.  The why; well nothing else solved the problem.  At least after I did that and the TV was ON, using the original remote, Harmony would control such actions as Volume and change channels whereas previously it would do nothing.  The problem of not switching On or Off using Harmony remained.  Presently, Customer Support have now reprogrammed the Watch TV mode, I have updated and all functions, including the ON/OFF toggle, are working. Hurrah!  Incidentally I am trying to control the devices using 'Activities' and not Devices.

My problem now is related to the PVR (Topfield TVF5800PVR).  It was working OK, that is when selecting TV2 from activities, the TV came on followed by the PVR.  In this mode the PVR controls the TV and volume and channel are all PVR functions.  The volume control 'worked' using Harmony but the channel control does not change the channel although the PVR recognizes the signal as the indicator on the PVR blinks.  Presently, Logitech Support are working on a solution.

You wil find Logitech Support good in helping you.  I used them for an issue with my SONY TV and they were great!.

Hi Edward and welcome.

Your TV is recognised immediately inte Harmony database and there is a full set of commands for it. Are you saying that most of these did not work at all? If that is the case what was Logi support's response when you reported the matter? A duration for Panasonic power commands is a normal requirement and for many models the setting IS avaialble in the software, though apparently not for yours. However, Logi support should have been able to add it immediately.

For the volume problem the first step is to check whether from Devices the controls for both the TV and the receiver work correctly. If they do then you need to review the Activities and make sure that in each the volume controls are assigned to the device which you require for them.

Re: Harmony One+ Panasonic TV TX-32LXD700

I now have the TV working as it should.  Logitech Support came up with an appropriate setting.

Thank you for your kind assistance.
