Harmony One far from giving harmony..

I got my One for christmas and I would love it if it did what it was supposed to but right now it's causing drama more than anything else in my life.

I have Sony's TV (KDL-40V3000) and Home Theater (DAV-DZ830). I have set the remote to do such activies as watch tv, watch dvd, play xbox, watch htpc.

First and foremost the problem is that the remote never successfully changes the tv channel. It always misses the target channel by one. For example when I want to watch my htpc, it's supposed to change the tv channel to AV5 and the home theater to Sat/Cable. Home theater goes to the correct channel but tv wont get past AV4.

Now AV4 is reserved for the dvd player so when you've been on the channel AV4 for couple of seconds, the dvd player automatically goes on so I have to make it stop searching for a disk, change the home theaters channel and the tvs channel, all manually just to get to where i wanted.

Same happens with xbox. It should go to AV7/Sat/cable but it goes to AV6/Sat/cable.

With 'watch dvd' it also first goes to av3 instead of the av4 that it should go to, but then the dvd player takes over and automatically changes the correct channel when the player goes on..

Also the home theater messes things up when it comes to changing to Sat/Cable. It does that, yes, but when the Sat/Cable has been set, the home theater changes the tv channel to AV1. So I still have to change the tv channel manually. Basically I'd need the remote to change the home theater channel first and then the tv channel.

Now before any of you think that I have the channels on the settings wrong, no I dont, they're listed on the remotes settings exactly as on tv. Nor there's nothing wrong with the delays.I can get it always fixed with the help button but i have to do it every single time i make an action with the remote.

Basically the only thing that the remote manages to do successfully is turning on n off the devices. I'd say it's less stressful to use those 3 remotes that i had originally than get annoyed every single time with harmony one.

Re: Harmony One far from giving harmony..

1. those aren't channels, they're inputs.

2. turn off the sony bravialink feature.  part of the reason the inputs aren't going to the correct input and things are turning on/off on their own is that the bravia link feature is trying to do what the harmony is trying to do.  they're fighting each other.

3. despite what your original remote does in order to change inputs, it's very possible that the harmony remote database has a better way to change inputs.  many tvs will have discrete commands to jump directly to each input.  this method (method #2) is FAR superior to any other input selection method that might have been selected.  what you will need to do is a test.  after you've disabled the bravialink feature, manually turn on all your source devices (xbox, sat, etc...) as well as your tv, then, on your One, press devices, and select the tv.  look for any commands that start out "inputxxxxx".  press the first and see if it changes your input.  repeat with anything that looks like an input command.  take notes on which commands work and which inputs they take you to.  after you have the results of your test, hopefully you have found commands that take you directly to the inputs that you're using.  then, you'll go into the setup, devices tab, settings for the tv, adjust inputs, method #2, confirm the input list is correct and then on the next screen make sure each input is mapped with the command that goes to that input (based on your notes).  step through the next screens and then update the remote.

Re: Harmony One far from giving harmony..

There should be an option in the menus to disable it, but you have to settle for one or the other not both, so the only alternative would be to let it take control and set the Harmony to do nothing in that aspect.
