Harmony One - keep backlight off until screen touch?

I've had the Harmony One for a couple of weeks now and it is absolutely fantastic. Six old remotes are now sitting in a drawer!

One thing that has been niggling me, however, is the backlight. I know you can adjust the length of time it stays on when the remote detects motion but I don't want it to come on at all unless I need to use the screen. For example, I use the pause, guide, exit and volume buttons mostly and have no need for the screen to be on but it comes on whenever I use one of the hard buttons.

It would be great if there was an option to only switch the backlight on if the screen was touched (I guess effectively disabling the motion sensor?). This would save my battery life quite a bit.

Any chance Logitech?

With the Harmony One you do not need to worry about the battery life.  The remote is designed to be re-charged,  if you put the remote in the cradle at the end of your viewing session, it will always have a full charge.  The Lithion Ion battery does not have a memory so you do not have to worry about re-charging every night.  I have been using my 880 remote for 2 years and I place it in the charger whenever I am done using it.  It uses the same battery as the Harmony One.

It wouldn't save the battery - I've had mine since they came out a year ago and the battery is fine.

OK so battery life isn't a problem if you keep it charged, but I simply don't want the screen to come on each time I move the remote.

Mine doesn't come on when it's moved, but it does when a hard button is pressed, and you said you didn't want that either, so it's no help to know that - sorry!

Attention for Harmony design team if any of you reading this forum.

You need to keep backlight off after pressing most of the hard keys as well as to disable motion sensor.

Having backlight on when user doesn't want it is useless, boring and energy consuming!!! There will be even economy in saving cost of the motion sensor - do not litter the planet!!!

I'd like to see it as an option to enable or disable, like some of the other options, but I for one like this feature when using it in the dark...it helps you find it just by bumping it and lets you see the backlit keys.
