How to reset changes made by Help Button/Troubleshooting Steps - Harmony One

I have a Harmony One, and it was having trouble picking the right inputs on my projector from one activity to another. I used the help button on the remote to troubleshoot it issue, and now the remote thinks it needs to "fix" the inputs everytime. So now the remote just jumps past the correct input, and there is no obvious way to reset or erase the things that were "fixed' by the Help Button Troubleshooter.

Any help?

The Help button does not "FIX" anything permanently, it only gets your system back in sync for that point in time, it makes no changes to your configuration.  To fix the problem with your projector selecting the correct input when changing Activities, you need to increase the Inter--device delay for the projector.

Not sure that is the case. After doing that Help "fix", one of my activities that worked fine before now has trouble; it is adding 2 more presses between the inputs, flipping past the one it was supposed to stop on. Didn't start doing that until I used that "fix" on one of my activities. So something is being remembered.

The Help button cannot make any permanent changes to your remote. The only way that can happen is if your remote is connected to your PC and you are logged on to your Harmony account on Logitech's server, that is where the configuration settings are stored and the only place where permanent changes can be made.

I'm sorry to be a nudge, but the behavior I am seeing doesn't support that. After I tried the help steps, the input switching went wonky. I totally reset my remote to factory settings, resynced it, and the problem is still there. That seems to indicate that something is being restored in syncing. Thoughts?

As I said earlier, if this is in fact happening, and it should not unless you are logged on the the Harmony server to make any changes, you need to contact Harmony support as this is not normal.  When you use the Help button to sync your remote no permanent changes are made to your remote, if this is not the case then there is something drastically wrong with your remote.

Re: How to reset changes made by Help Button/Troubleshooting Steps - Harmony One

TO support this gentleman's claims I would like to add some input.  I had a lot of trouble getting the One to turn to the correct input upon powering up.  A friend stopped by and showed me a trick to get it to work perfectly.  Well, it lasted about a week and for some reason it just stopped behaving like it had that past week and went back to it's previous behavior of not turning on or going to the desired input.  I had not done anything to the settings ... it simply reverted to it's "bad habits."   Now I'm back to where I was before fixing it and wondering what I can do because the original fix won't work anymore.

Is Logitech really Skynet?  I feel like I should kill this darn remote where it sits.

Lastly, Logitech support emailed me telling me they would respond but have failed to do so ....... hmmmm.   Guess I won't be investing anymore $$$ in one of there products.  I hate shoddy customer service/support.

Re: How to reset changes made by Help Button/Troubleshooting Steps - Harmony One

I know there's nothing wrong with the remote, since I put some soft buttons in my setup to bypass the problem in case the inputs don't work right in the activity. Then it dawned on me this morning that I should be able to do the same thing within my activity.

I solved my problem by changing the device setup to under "Advanced Setup > How do you change inputs blah blah."

I chose Method 2 as if my remote had dedicated buttons for the inputs on my projector. Then the next few screens allowed me to assign the proper command to each button. Now that sucker works like it is supposed to, since it uses the same command as my soft button does.

I do know that the help troubleshooter stores something, since my remote refused to forget the "help" fix no matter what I have done.

Re: How to reset changes made by Help Button/Troubleshooting Steps - Harmony One

The Help button does nothing to change the configuration of your remote, it only gets you back in sync for the present time, no permanent changes are made to your remote, if any changes are needed to make your remote respond correctly, that has to be done in the software. Usually if the Help button corrects a problem, it is a timing problem, usually either the Power on delay setting isn't set high enough if it is a startup problem, or the Inter-device delay needs to be set higher for a Device if it does not respond properly when changing Activities.  A lot of problems occur  if the remote is not pointed at the devices long enough, and the device misses a command sent to it.
