I spent 15 minutes composing a question to you inside your Logitech software to ask a question. I press submit and I am being told "This contact support nterface is currently undergoing maintenance" without an option to go back and recover my message. My 15 minutes were lost. Can you believe that anyone would write such a terrible program? I was really really quite pissed about this.
Then I started typing an email for your email support system. Continue gets me to a page where I can setup a user id, but not login. When I try to create an account, it tells me that I am already in the data base. What the heck? Eventually, going to these forums, I discover a log in page. My old password is either wrong or forgotten. However, now when I ask it to email my password, I get the message that my email is not in the data base. What the heck? (Eventually, I created a new user account with another email, that managed to get me here.)
Is this intentional, or just incompetence?
My original problem is that I own a dish PVR 622. It is both my live TV receiver and my PVR. The logitech device should not distinguish between Live TV mode and PVR mode. This is really one device that has both. Right now, when in PVR mode, the volume control is not working. This means I have to switch back to TV mode. Very inconvenient. (In addition, this blanks out my TV for a second, as it probably sends some command to the Denon AVR receiver which sets the input again.)
My other problem is that my Kloss Model 88 from around 2000 does not seem to respond to the Harmony AT ALL. I even tried programming it from the original control. (I only need power and volume up/down.) No dice.
What now?
Sincerely,

Hi and welcome to the forum.
In the Activity that includes the Device, all of its controls, including the volume, should be available for you to customise to buttons as you wish.
Also, this time in Devices, you should be able to "learn" commands from the second device, preferably using the "Custom" mode of doing so.
If you try these and have further questions or problems please let us know so that we can take the matter further.
H H.

no argument or comment... but, since this seems to be an unfortunate trend on many web "forms" I have learned to _always_ press <ctrl-a><ctrl-c> before clicking the "send" button.
With the harmony software, I generally go the extra step of pasting it somewhere before clicking "send" as this software has a number of other quirks such as not allowing keyboard macro input.

I agree with that bh, but what does "keyboard macro input" mean?

The only way I can participate in the number of forums I manage to, is by using a "keyboard macro" program that stuffs the pc's keyboard buffer with things that you tend to type over and over again such as long and complex web addresses.
There are a number of keyboard macro programs around but I use Gary Chanson's Wintools which I can't begin to calculate how much time it has saved me over the years.
One place it is of value is filling in a large number of repeating values, but, the Harmony software appears to not receive characters from the keyboard buffer, but probably by scanning the keyboard input... so, where I can log in or fill in fields in all other programs and most web/java pages using it, not possible with the harmony software.

thanks for the advice. I hope I got it right playing with device options.
may I ask though: why is the software not smart enough to assign the same key to the volume when the 622 PVR is addressed as when the 622 standard function (TV) is addressed?
also, of lesser unambiguous functionarlity, I find the PVR selection somewhat cumbersome. on the original remote, one presses DVR and gets the menu of recordings. would it not make sense to assign it to some key, too?
sincerely,
/iaw
