Ok, I originally thought it was a battery connection issue, but that's NOT it. I can use my TV fine with the remote, but once I switch to my HTPC, my remote keeps restarting. It doesn't restart in TV mode, just when I switch to my HTPC.
Is this a firmware bug??

"Basically: the remote will sense that the batteries are "too low", and instead of properly displaying the alert to the user, it enteres a reboot cycle. Worse than that, the threshold for "too low" is far more sensitive than most other devices."
This is what's happening to me. New batteries last for less than a week. Must have been a software update since this wasn't happening when I bought the remote. Hopefully another update will fix it.

I had this exact issue for way over 2 months. I contacted logitech support last Thursday. They sent me a Harmony One in it's place a few days later. Awesome support Logitech. Keep it up!

This just started happening to me tonight. It started with a "low battery" warning (which is bogus, they were only put in a couple weeks ago) and then it just keeps rebooting no matter what button I hit. I've tried replacing the batteries (3 different sets now, and even checked the charge on the original set and it was nearly full). I've even tried reapplying the firmware, but it still reboots when I try to hit help, all off, or choose any of my activities. I bought this 650 to replace a failing 550, and I'm a bit distraught that it didn't even end up having 1/4 the lifespan the 550 did. Guess I'll be opening up a support ticket since it seems this is a somewhat common problem among users of this model.

Logitech's support was great. After a few emails they shipped me a new one too. Kudos.

Same thing happened to my Harmony 600.. new one is on the way, and I don't have to worry about returning the defective one. Props to Logitech for sorting it so quickly! ![]()

So, i'm on my second Harmony 650 and I'm having the same problem!!! Bought the first one from Futureshop in Canada in December 2010. Had to replace it a month after getting it and futureshop did it without any problems. The second one began rebooting about a month or so after I got it and I've been "dealing" with it since then. So here it is, not even April 2011 and I've gone through 2 remotes with the same problem.
As for replacing the batteries, I got the low battery message today and put 2 fresh, brand new batteries in it and the remote STILL reboots!! I've dug out the 4 remotes that this piece of junk was supposed to replace so I can actually use my systems!
Sorry Logitech, I can't ever recommend a Harmony remote to anyone. 1 remote is understandable as you can always get a bad one now and then, but for my replacement to have the same problem, that's unacceptable.
I'm sorry for my attitude but I'm just very annoyed at the situation.

I am also having the same issue with my 650. I am on my 5th set of batteries and I've only had it 6 weeks! I've updated to the latest firmware, turned off tilt feature, 5 second glow. My H550 would last 4-5 months before needing another set of batteries.
What gives? This was suppose to be an upgrade for me, but this thing is worse in performance??![]()

Add mine to the list as well of malfunctioning 650 units. I got mine in Oct 2010 through Amazon.
Worked well till the first set of batteries lasted with the low battery warning sustaining the functions till couple of days.
First set of batteries replaced about month and half back. It resets itself on practically any activity button press which will send an IR code.
Checked the battery contacts. Padded the compartment with folded paper to prevent batteries from moving around. No benefit.
I even updated the to the latest firmware today itself i.e., 15th April 2011. Didn't Help.
I hope Logitech either replies back with a firmware solution or sends me a new model as a replacement. As i have no trust left in this model reading all the posts here.
MOST IMP : Battery Voltage is right now 1.44 V and 1.44 V. Hence i do not see it as a battery power issue.
regards,
Rohit

Hi Punkrulz,
The Harmony 650 is a support remote for Logitech. There is a problem with our website not displaying the Harmony 650 in Canada (in both English & French language). It is displayed if you switch the country to the US, or UK and then read the articles there. As they remotes are the same in each of these regions it applies to all.
As far as your issue with the remote rebooting, this is not supposed to happen at any time. Now, if the remote is dropped or shaken and it loses connection with the battery contacts it can be expected. That is why we always check that the battery contacts have a good spring and are making a connection.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, then I suggest you Submit a Warranty claim through the software and inform support of the symptoms. Also let them know you've already done the battery contact test (to avoid that troubleshooting step). To access the warranty, click on 'Support', then 'Contact Us' then 'Warranty Claim' in the Harmony software.
