Long TV delay

Hi.

I have a problem with my LG TV. The time from where it's turned on until it accepts inputs is quite long, I've measured it to about 11 seconds. This is easily solved using the power on delay, which however gives other problems. Now when I start an activity, first the TV is turned on. Then nothing happens for 11 seconds and after that it changes input and THEN all the other equipment is turned on (which means another few seconds passes before I actually get picture on the TV). I can't really understand why the other devices can't be turned on while waiting for the tv to get ready for changing input?

Anyway, I've tried changing the order in which the devices are turned on in my activity (thinking if I could turn on the other devices first and THEN the TV things might be better) but this setting seems to be completely ignored. No matter how I set it up the TV is turned on first.

This is on a Harmony 650.

Gah! I can't believe I'm the only person with this problem! Anyone?

Re: Long TV delay

I would delete and readd your TV and recreate your Activity, It sounds like you may have scarted the TV, This means that all the commands for the TV are sent first and then the other devices would start up. When It is asking questions about the TV make sure that you do not check off that you use the common scart cables used in Europe. Then you will have to set up your activity, also make sure to adjust your POD again back to 11000 ms. If this does not work let me know

Re: Long TV delay

Ah! Thanks for your reply. I'll check this up as soon as possible. I remember the program asking something about scart, even though none of my devices has never been near a scart cable. So I'm quite sure I don't want my TV to be scarted :cathappy:

Re: Long TV delay

Scart is helpful sometimes dont get me wrong, but alot of the time if you are thrying to get the set up to start as quick as possible then scart is a bad idea.... sometimes if you have energy savings power bars we need to scart the active port and add a long POD so the powerbar has time to send the power to all the ports

Re: Long TV delay

Actually, after knowing more what I was looking for, I found this thread. It seems I'll be able to "unscart" my tv without configuring everything from scratch, just by using the troubleshooting link. I usually don't touch troubleshooting links as they tend to do stuff out of my control, but maybe this one can come in handy :smileyhappy:

Anyway, I think I know what caused this. When I bought my present tv some years ago I still had an old VHS player for which I needed scart, so probably I gave that answer to the question when setting up the device. Still, it'd be nice if the setting was just a little bit easier to find...

Re: Long TV delay

No need for apologizing. If it hadn't been for you I'd still be in the middle of nowhere.

Anyways, now it works better. All devices are turned on immediately. However, the switching of input on the tv still doesn't work. Tried raising the startup delay some seconds just in case, still nothing. When I switch between activities, the input is switched as it should, but if the switch of input that is supposed to occur when I turn my tv on just doesn't seem to affect the tv. Any ideas?

Re: Long TV delay

Your going to have to crank up that power on delay... if it will do it between activities and help with fix it and make it switch then it is just the POD. Now that the TV is not scarted I would bring it back to the defalut and slowly lower it from there, it just means your going to have to hold onto the remote longer :smileysad:

Re: Long TV delay

Well, problem is it's already a bit higher than the default. But I guess I'll just have to crank it up further until it works. Just a bl**dy stupid tv. Next time I'll buy a tv I'll check for that in the specs...
