Concur. I gave up on trying to make my 1100 work within OS X. It does work fine using the Windows app within Parallels.

I just purchased a Harmony 900 remote that is supposed to be compatible with over a 100,000 devices from 5,000 different brands and paid a premium price for it. I also purchased the Playstation 3 adapter which alone costs more then the actual Playstation 3 remote. I did all this in the hopes that it would make my life a little simpler. However, after spending over $400 on a remote, I find out that the software provided with it is not natively compatible with a up to date Mac computer running in 64 bit mode. Quite frankly for the price that Logitech is charging they should have written some proper software that just works. I will be taking my Harmony 900 straight back to the store that I purchased it at and I urge you to do the same, if you are having the same problem. Maybe if enough people return their remotes, Logitech may pay attention and make improvements to their product. Instead of expecting customers to call their 1 800 which is forwarded to the Philippines, expecting them to wait on hold for 35 + minutes and make them jump through hoops because they couldn't take the time to release a properly designed product. Vote with your wallet.

Boot into 32-bit mode? Seriously? Please, fix it to work in 64-bit mode finally. What if I have more than 4GB of memory in my Mac or other 64-bit only apps? Boot back and forth just to be able to update remote? There's no excuse for it not to work in 64-bit mode.

BTW, if this software was an open source app maintained by an colleage student, it would have been fixed like within a week of Lion being released. We actually paid for this hardware/software.

This issue continues to be an option with the Mac OS X operating system. I've had 3 different techs respond to 3 different questions with exactly the same answer...kind of tells me they don't read anything the user reports to them. After going through this for a week, back and forth, they stated that they didn't have to support me because they said their system logs showed I hadn't updated the software since 2009. I replied back with systems logs from OS X showing the update procedure and it's failure, and they replied back that they were just going to mark the issue as close. I must say that after this experience, I'll be damned if I recommend logitech products to any of my clients. After seeing all of the unresolved issues concerning Mac OS X and the harmony software in these forums, I'm guessing that Logitech leadership doesn't see the value in making sure the Mac OS X customers are taken care of.
To further prove the issue with Mac OS X, I setup a virtual machine in Parallels on the mac, installed Windows XP, updated it, installed the Harmony software and was able to perform every function and configure the remote perfectly. The sad thing is, everything was working just fine on the Mac before, but when I started up the software to make some changes due to new equipment, I was met with a message stating that you "should" update the software and gave you 3 choices: 1: Run the update and always check for updates; 2: Run the update, but always ask to run the update; and lastly, 3: Don't perform the update (Software will close). Now any IT Consultant can tell you the problems with forcing updates like this. Not all systems are alike, many times updates cause not only problems with the software that is updated, but also can cause all sorts of problems for the entire system. If you know you might have a problem and need to stick to a certain software version level, you need to have the choice to do so. By not allowing users to stay with a version of software that works for them, they've made this issue substancially more far-reaching that it ever would of been if the update wasn't forced.
By refusing to correct the issues with their OS X software, and since the company headquarters is located in California, I believe they are in violation of California Civil Code 1793.03 which was created by the Song-Beverly Act to protect consumers from companies dropping support to soon for high dollar products. If the product wholesales for over $100 U.S., they must provide technical literature, repair parts and other necessities to operate the eqiupment for 7 years past the date of purchase. This applies even if all other warranties from the company have expired. This law was effective enough to force Meade Instruments to change their policies on replacement part availability and force them to make the parts available to end users that have the ability to work on their own telescope equipment.
I've passed along my experience to the BBB, along with the offer of any and all system/software logs to prove the issue.

LION 10.7.3 works for me.
I did what others said.
- booted in 32 bit mode
- enabled IP6 local only on the harmony ethernet device in Network Settings
- Made sure firewall wasn't blocking anything
I clicked update on my remote and it sat at 0% with no activity for over 30 seconds. Then finally it kicked in and worked.
just give it a minute to make sure its going to fail or work, if it works on 10.7.3 it has to work for you.
I agree the software is garbage. I am a mac software developer and I could write a super SICK app for logitech, and it defintetally wouldn't be crappy java. it would be full Obj-C and sync profiles with iCloud and iPhone / iPads etc. not this lame crap. ![]()
contact me logitech if you want to take your software to the next level. I have a team of 10 developers and we build high end software for banking systems (iphone android mobile and web as well as mac)

No there's no possibility to reboot in 32 bit since Apple's last update for Lion OS X.
I was able to reboot my Mac in 32 bit mode before the update, last month. Apple confirmed the fact.
Logitech has now to make a move.

So very strange.
I needed badly to update my Harmony 890 config which I had only done in the last months using an old Mac as My Lion MacBook Air would not know anything about it.
I spent to days trying to do it on the old Mac which would not do it anylonger. I tried another much older PPC machine under Tiger. All were running version 7.7.0 of the Harmony application.
I tried to downgrade Java and all sorts of things. No luck.
Yesterday, I finally reinstalled 7.7.0 on my MBA running 10.7.3 out of sheer desperation. And it went like a charm. I updated both my RF extension and remote, twice to make sure. No 32 bit reboot, nothing.
I really don't understand, but I am in business.

Logitech's servers were screwed up all weekend, and were not working properly until Monday, 2-27-2012. That's probably why you were having problems -- see all the other screaming threads about this.
