Re: Mac Snow Leopard (10.6) communication issues with Harmony 900/1000/1100

I have now spent almost 2 weeks trying to get the Harmony 900 working - I've tried 2 of my Macs and 1 PC running XP.

Disabled Firewalls, antivirus, different USB cable and ports. I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled the packaged software and v7.7 from logitech support downloads.

My remote, straight out of the box, only showed the charging icon once. Since then it has shown either nothing (completely blank) or the splash logitech screen - and is now permanently in SAFE Mode.

My analysis of the situation with this recent experience (and having read numerous blogs and support calls on the internet) is that the Logitech USB Drivers need fixing.

The support answer to 'Update Firmware' makes no sense if the remote can't communicate with the PC or Mac and this important point appears to have been overlooked by those offering the advice.

Please can someone from Logitech acknowledge that the USB Drivers need fixing and estimate when the fix will be released. This will stop many people wasting hours on spurious remedies or returning their non-functioning units.

Many thanks.

JC

Re: Convert from Windows to Mac Snow Leopard for existing Harmony One

try clicking the 'FORGOT PASSWORD'' option on the login page while you have your harmony plugged in. the software will communicate with the remote and give you the login ID , it will also allow you to change your password if you need to :smileyhappy:

Re: Mac Snow Leopard (10.6) communication issues with Harmony 900/1000/1100

I have had the exact same experience as JC2010 had. Tried all fixes. The best I achieved is intermitent working connections. Just enough to update the remote and configure it at a huge cost (lost time).
In addition, to diagnose the problem whenever the communication with the remote is lost, there is no way for any other browsers to acces the internet.
unplugging the remote and refreshing the windows restarts the process.
the result is that ANY simple update to the configuration is a pain in the neck, not being sure which changes have been taken into account, etc...
Please fix this asap? I really like what that remote does otherwise.

Re: Mac Snow Leopard (10.6) communication issues with Harmony 900/1000/1100

I'm also having trouble updating remote.  I've implemented the 3 possible fixes and still no go. I get a Java Lang Parameter out of bounds exception, which I think may be related to the newest Java update I installed in May.

However, I was able to update the Firmware successfully.  Only problem is, now my remote is unusable because updating the remote is the final step to upgrading the firmware and the update fails every time with the Java exception.

I had the same issue today on my Macbook running Snow Leopard.  I resolved it by doing the Apple Software Update.  After it installed the latest Java update and rebooted the software began to work.

Let us know if you still have problems after the latest Java update.

Re: Mac Snow Leopard (10.6) communication issues with Harmony 900/1000/1100

I have done that.  I'm running the latest Java for Mac. And OS 10.6.4.   I got some Logitech online support that didn't help and was told that my case was being elevated to level 2, but have received no contact in over 4 days.  When I go online to check status, I'm told I will have to buy a $29 phone support because my remote is 15 months old.  Is this correct?

Yes that is correct, phone support is only available for the first 90 days, warranty is for one year in the US and 2 years for EU.  If the problem is Logitech's then the $29 is refundable

Thanks.  I've had the remote only 7 months and it's now unusable.  I'm pursuing a warranty repair or replacement.

I have had exactly the same experience and am sick of wasting time on this. I have had a replacement product sent to me which of course has made no difference. Logitech need to sort this out (or stop selling the devices to Mac users?)

Re: Mac Snow Leopard (10.6) communication issues with Harmony 900/1000/1100

I had the problem of not being able to update the remote and it was not a problem with the remote or my Mac or my Mac's Java.  The problem was bad data on the server at Logitech's end.  Once they deleted that bad data, I could once again do the needed updating.  This problem was fixed months ago for me.
