Howdy,
I have two directv receivers in the same room and need help setting up my Harmony remotes so that they are each dedicated to one receiver only.
Equipment:
Directv HR34 HD DVR (Genie)
Directv C31 HD Receiver (Genie)
Harmony 650 remote (IR only)
Harmony 900 remote (IR and RF)
These are in my living room. One directv box will feed the TV in our living room and one box will feed a TV on our patio. The Harmony 900 is for use in our outside patio and will utilize the RF feature due to the lack of line-of-sight. I don't care which directv receiver feeds the outside TV, but would imagine the HR34 might be better because I think it has RF capabilities. Right now, whenever I use one remote, it affects both receivers, which I don't want. I read some posts about being able to change codes on the directv remotes, but since I'm not using those, I'm not sure how to accomplish this.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

What you need to do is to change the comand set of one of the DirecTV receivers, then do a Confirm IR of the receiver you changed. To change the command set of one of the DirecTV receivers, this is done in the DirecTV's menu. To do Confirm IR once the Command Set is changed, go to Devices, The changed DirecTV receiver, Settings, Confirm IR.

Follow the posts you read about changing codes on the DirecTV remotes and receivers, because that's exaclty what you have to do before programming your 900. Once the codes are changed, perform the steps Rhachey gave you to make the changes in your 900. You really only need to change one. You can leave the other as-is. Any address will do, so I would just pick 2. You have a choice of 1-8 on the DirecTV receiver itself. The confirm steps from the DirecTV remote set to 2 are what tells your 900 to use the other set of codes.
You can even switch without the confirm steps if you use the right profile. At one time their was a profile called "HR20-700S2" that was the address 2 code set. That should work fine with the HR34 and C31. You can answer no when asked if you have the original remote and skip the confirm if you use that S2 profile. But you can't skip the part where you change the address on the DVR itself.

Perfect. Thanks for the quick replies and help! I'll try it out tonight but it seems straightforward.
Thanks again!

Just to let everyone know...got it to work last night. It wasn't without a couple hiccups though. I switched the HR34 and Harmony 650 to a new codeset. I tried multiple times to switch them to codeset 00002, but kept having issues. After a while, I did some googling and found an obscure post about the HR34 only accepting the 00003 codeset, so I tried that and finally had success.
Thanks again for everyone's help.
