I called Harmony CS today. My PS3 Adapter is about 2.5 months out of warranty. I didn't think they would actually replace it, but was hoping they may send me a new power cord or let me purchase a new power cord. I'd be happy to purchase a new power cord if that was an option...
Seems my unit is suffering from the same problem dozens of others here are suffering from. i.e. The unit starts randomly powering on the PS3 and then proceeds to die shortly thereafter and the adapter will no longer receive power. Most and those who have tested the issue seem to be able to point toward a faulty designed power cable that is shorting itself out.
My unit has worked flawlessly for 14.5 months and has just been sitting there on its shelf doing what it is supposed to do.
The CS rep told me that they could not replace the unit and could not offer me a replacement power cable even to purchase as it was not sold as a stand alone part.
Fine. That's terrible business to have a product with a faulty part that the company obviously knows about because their employees have commented in forum posts regaurding the subject and they don't even offer a replacement part for sale, but that's their choice.
So I'm about to get off the call and the CS rep tells me I can purchase a new one for $60 and "take better care of it in the future."
Nice...
I've easily dropped over $1,000 on Harmony remotes and adapters for my household, and I call up for help for a problem I'm willing to pay for a replacement part to fix because of an issue with a faulty part that Harmony knows about and should be responsible for, and I should take better care of the part?
Very frustrated with this CS experience, and very apt to walk away from here and tell my 14,000 followers on twitter to look elsewhere than Logitech/Harmony for their products, because if they give the company tons of money and a product breaks due to a faulty part the company is using then they blame their customers...
Unbelievable...

Hello Roofus,
I am very sorry to hear about your experience with Harmony Phone support. This is no way to treat a customer and it is not the way our agents are trained. If you could PM me your case number I would like to take a look into your case and send it to the appropriate person to have them look at.

Then just PM me your harmony account (sign in/email) and I will see if I can look it up that way. Just make sure to PM it as I do not wish you to post it publicly.

Hysterical. So Cat was checking into this for me and today I find out Cat is no longer working for Logitech. So I'm once again screwed and stranded in Logitech limbo.

The Harmony One unofficially uses the same power adapter as the PS3 adapter. It is worth a shot if you own or knows someone that owns one.

SOLVED:
My PS3 adapter began shutting off about two months ago. The problem was found finally today and proved to be the power supply plug that inserts into the PS3 adapter was intermittently shorting.
I had read earlier that the power supplies were failing and that people were replacing the supply and all was well. I didn't go about it quite like that. Everyone has multiple cell phone chargers laying around the house. The motorola USB cell phone charger has a 5v output with plenty of power. I cut off the mini USB end and then cut off the power plug from my logitech and mated them together. I thought that was a fix, but a few hours later, the voltage was down to near zero again. I did take the top off the adapter so that I could monitor the voltage at the power receptacle. Pulling the plug out and checking the voltage right at the plug showed near zero volts. However, after rolling the plug around between my fingers, 5v returned. For the final test, I removed the plug and short length of original cable from the motorola charger line and put an ohm meter across the shield and inner conductor. While rolling the plug the ohm meter would show that the plug was shorting and there it is. I went to Radio Shack and bought a $3 Size H DC Power Plug, soldered it on the power supply line and all is well.
Apologize for the lengthy broadcast, but I'm willing to bet that a lot of you who are seeing your adapter shut off have faulty power supply plugs. If you are handy with electronics then it's a $3 fix. If not, then replacing the entire power supply will work.

To further help others in this situation:
I had the same issue whereby my adapter would no longer power on unless I rolled the connector in the socket.
I found this response and off to The Source (Radio Shack) to buy the power plug mentioned in the quoted post.
They didn't have a letter scheme, but rather the ones you need are 3.5mm (1/8") O.D. X 1.3mm (1/16") I.D.
You can find them here: http://www.thesource.ca/estore/product.aspx?langua
OR
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?produc
You just cut the original power plug off and then you can wire the new one on. The power plugs just unscrew, revealing the spots to wire them. The striped wire is positive and the inside of the tip should be positive and the outside of the power plug should be negative.
I can't believe I have to go through all of this with my incredibly overpriced adapter. $60 for what this thing does is highway robbery, and then to have it not work and Logitech to not admit there was a problem and replace them is ridiculous.
