Poor customer service for battery problem

[ Edited ]
We have a Harmony One remote that we bought in 2009. Recently it will not hold a charge, so we tried to take out the battery. It took a while to be able to get it out and once we finally did we found it is swollen. Apparently just by doing a google search this it a known problem with the remote. We emailed customer service and were told swelling of the battery is normal and we needed to update the firmware and if that doesnt work, buy a new remote. Are you kidding me we could barely get the battery out and that's normal? Yes, that's what I want to do, buy a new $200 remote after only having it for 3 years. Very Dissapointed in Logitechs customer service. This a a big safety issue and all they want to do is make more money off me, by having me buy another $200 remote.

Re: Poor customer service for battery problem

That is not normal, many users have had the battery replaced or even the whole remote replaced if the battery will not come out, and their remote was several years old and out of warranty.  You need to contact customer service, or PM one of the Logitech employees who look in on the forum with your case number.

Yeah I have to agree that, that's a little more than messed up. I do not have a "Harmony One" (I have the Harmony 1100 & 300) But I woulda escalated that issue. I'm assuming that the warranty for a remote purchased in 2009 would be out of warranty? Even so, I would think they would offer a replacement battery (for a charge) then have it shipped to you.

Re: Poor customer service for battery problem

I finally was able to get somebody on the phone. The customer service I recieved was outstanding. The whole phone call lasted only 10 minutes. A new remote is being shipped out in a couple of days even though the remote was out of warranty. I would highly suggest anybody that has this same issue call customer service rather than email them. 5 days of emailing back and forth got me nowhere. 1 phone call did. Now I am back to being a satisfied customer :smileyhappy:
