RF Extender and Z-wave compatibility?

[ Edited ]

Hello,

Advertising literature I have seen on the packaging and found online about the  Logitech Harmony RF Wireless Extender mentions "Z-Wave" integration but I have not discovered any specific information of how the extender utilizes the Zwave RF (other than name-dropping the tech). I know that Logitech Harmony RF remotes are Z-wave compatible, so maybe that is the extent of the extender's "Z-wave integration"? I have searched here and elsewhere for specific info on how the extender works but have come up somewhat empty handed.

jdbower mentions in this thread that "[t]he Logitech RF extender takes a native RF signal from Logitech's RF-enabled remotes (890, 1000, 1100) and converts it to an IR signal." Which is quite helpful, but I wonder, are the IR codes for the extender programmed via the Logitech software (like that used for my Harmony H659)? If so, can the Harmony extender pair with my Z-wave (RF)  Intermatic HA07 remote that I use for home automation to accept a Z-wave command to activate an "activity" in my home theatre setup? Basically, can I have an "on" command from my Z-wave controller tell the extender to blast the IR codes for "listen to radio"?

It will be cool if the answer is "yes". :-)

I thank you for taking the time to read!

Hi remoteconsumer,

I will try to provide you with a more in-depth explanation of how the Harmony 890,895, and 890pro work with Z-wave. The remotes are able to pair with Z-Wave lights and dimmer switches. They can control them by sending single commands  such as on, off, dim etc. With a Harmony, you can also create scenes that the Harmony will perform when starting an Activity for your Z-wave lights/dimmers. Unfortunately your original Z-Wave controller cannot pair up with the Wireless extender.

I hope this helps to better explaing the Z-Wave functionality for you. If you have any further questions feel free to ask :smileyhappy:

Regards,

Mark

Re: RF Extender and Z-wave compatibility?

The RF extender will only work with Harmony remotes, 890, 890 Pro, 1000, and the 1100

Re: RF Extender and Z-wave compatibility?

Is it only switches and dimmers that Harmony can control?

Re: RF Extender and Z-wave compatibility?

I have a 1100 with the RF extender. Will I able to control a levitron dimmer with this remote? If yes - can you put in some details as to how I can do this.

Thanks

Re: RF Extender and Z-wave compatibility?

Is the dimmer Zwave, RF, or IR?
