I just recently experienced a problem when installing a Sony Blu-Ray player on HDMI3 of Samsung HL-T6176S. I am using a Harmony 680, HDMI1 for satellite box and HDMI2 for Sony DVDplayer/surround sound. The "watch TV" and "watch DVD" buttons work as expected and change inputs to the correct one with no problems. However, the remote will not switch the TV to HDMI3 to play a BLU-Ray even when when trying to use the help button. It appears to me that there must be something wrong with the Harmony's command to the TV for HDMI3. The green light on the tv blinks as if it is receiving an IR command but does not respond by changing the input or doing anything else noticeable. Please help.

Welcome to the forum.
First check for sure whether or not the HDMI3 input command works.
Go to the Devices screen of your Harmony and see whether it works when you send it from there.
Let us know the result.

Thanks, I did as you said and the command for HDMI1 and HDMI2 both worked properly, however pressing HDMI3 did not do anything from the Devices -> TV menu.

Yes, I have tried switching to HDMI 3 once the blu-ray player is on by using the HDMI3 specific comand through the TV menu on the Harmony remote and also by using the help function of the remote. The TV does not switch imputs during these times.

pressing HDMI3 did not do anything from the Devices -> TV menu.
OK. Then simply set the Activity to HDMI2 and include an InputNext Command as Additional When Activity Starts.

OK so this problem will exist on many Samsung TV's that are coming up 2 years old with 2 HDMI's on the back and one on the side.
The reason for the problem is that the CPU and harware are equiped for 4 HDMI inputs but one of the inputs on the back is not present. This means that only 2 are available on the back instead of 3. So far as the the CPU is concerned the input on the side is actually HDMI4.When using the next input function, the software is set to skip the real HDMI3 (on the back) and go straight to HDMI4. Adding further confusion, the name label on HDMI4 has been changed to HDMI3 so that when you select next input after HDMI2, it goes to HDMI4 but displays the name HDMI3!!! Confused????
The resolution is to tell the harmony that you have a later model TV that actually has 4 real HDMI inputs. When you want to select the side HDMI (labelled as HDMI3 on the TV) use the HDMI4 control on the harmony remote. It will transmit the discrete HDMI4 code and the TV will select HDMI4 that is labelled an known by you as HDMI3!
You can try model PS50C550G1WXXU as that has 4 real HDMI ports!
I dont recommend, but you can see the space on the pcb for the real HDMI3 input on the PCB and I suspect it
wouldn;t be that difficult to reinstate this input if you needed!!!!!
Worked for me :0)
