Re: TV2 dish net IR control

Well, I got the kit. Installed it per the instructions. No luck controlling my Dish 625 receiver via IR with my Harmony 880. I even flipped the chip on the Dish remote to make it transmit IR and gave it a shot, still nothing. I checked the address for TV2 and it is on 1 like previously recommended. I even tried flipping the switches on the convertor to TV1/B and every combo I could other than the recommended TV2/A in the instructions. All of which gave no results. The little green light is on indicating it's powered up, made sure the litte IR receiver was verticle.

Re: TV2 dish net IR control

Next step would be to confirm the IR for the Harmony Remote

Devices>Your 625>Settings>Confirm IR

Re: TV2 dish net IR control

Ok, just tried it, no results. Am I wrong in thinking that the dish remote should work when set to transmit IR?

Re: TV2 dish net IR control

Yes the Dish remote should work as well.

As a test on the system info screen press record 3 times does it still show it at address 1?

Re: TV2 dish net IR control

This is an old thread - but I'm a new member searching for a solution to a similar issue -- and based on this comment - I'm starting to think that I'm out of luck. Sorry if this gets posted in an innapropriate place.

I just got a 900 remote - to replace an older 650 -- because I assumed I could use the RF feature to manage the TV2 requirements on a Bell Expressvu 9200PVR with a UHF Pro remote -- (which I assumed was RF).

In TV1 mode in the living room -  I use a Harmony 880 to contol the 9200 PVR/ cable box / TV / Stereo receiver / HP Media Centre -- everything works fine with the 880 while in this room ( iassume everything is IR) ----- TV2 from the 9200 satalite box goes into another room with a TV / a WD Live / Xbox 360 media extender ----- all of these work fine with the Harmony 650  -- but I need to use the UHF Pro remote for the satalite ------ I was hoping the the Harmony 900 would operate everything -- including the Bell Box that is in another room so I could get down to one remote ---------

From what I've read so far -- I can change the original remote from RF to IR -- but it doesn't look like the 900 remote can replace the UHF Pro remote that allows me to control the 9200 PVR ---- if anyone knows for a fact that this can't be done -- I'd appreciate a response so I won't wast my time trying to make it work.

thanks

Re: TV2 dish net IR control

I'm totally clueless in getting this to work, hopefully someone here can give me some assistance.  I purchased the TV2 IR converter so I could use my logitech harmony 650 remote to control my tv2.  Below is my current setup:

  • Dish 722K DVR is set up in Living Room and connected directly to TV1
  • TV2 is in my bedroom
  • I connected the TV2 IR converter to TV2, and have it set to Band A.
  • TV1 address is set to 3 and is IR (originally it was set to 1)
  • TV 2 address is set to 1 and is UHF (originally it was set to 15)

I can control TV1 with the harmony remote without any issue but it's not working with TV2.  I called Dish Network but they were not helpful.  I've read this post over and over and tried all the suggestions but it still doesn't work.  Also when I set up my activity for TV2 do I need to include the DVR as a devicie or just use the TV? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: TV2 dish net IR control

If you are using the same 650 they would both need to be set to address 1

If you are using 2 separate remotes you can use different addresses but it is not necessary.  with your setup now on the second remote you would need to confirm the IR address at

Devices>Your 722>Settings>Confirm IR

Let us know how it goes
